The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of family resilience and self-determination on career transition of discharged soldiers. The subjects of study were 247 members of P Service Center for Discharged Soldiers in P city. They completed three kinds of questionnaires regarding Family Resilience, Self-determination, and Career transition.
The collected data was analyzed by statistical programs. Cronbach's coefficient was produced in order to verify reliability of each scale. And Person's correlation analysis was conducted to find out correlations among variables. Multiple Regression analysis was conducted to find out the effect of discharged soldiers' family resilience and self-determination on their career transition.
As the result, family resilience, self-determination and career transition showed significant positive correlations. Family hardiness, problem solution and coping strategy of sub factors of family resilience affected significantly on career transition. Next, relationship, competence, and autonomy of sub factors of self-determination influenced in order on career transition. In particular, self-determination influenced more strongly on career transition than family resilience.
In conclusion, such results suggest that family resilience and self-determination is important when discharged soldiers change their career. Also, it is necessary to consider self-determination in addition to family relationship. Finally, it needs to develop counseling strategy for discharged soldiers in order to increase their self-determination and family's support.
