This study examined whether internalized shame and anger suppression show a sequential mediating effect in the relationship between covert narcissism and displaced aggression. A total of two hundreds and eighty-three individuals completed a battery assessing covert narcissism, internalized shame, anger suppression, and displaced aggression. Structural Equation Modeling was used to test the mediation effect of internalized shame and anger suppression. As a result, internalized shame and anger suppression showed a sequential partial mediating effect in the relationship between covert narcissism and displaced aggression. Moreover, the anger suppression showed a partial mediating effect in the relationship between covert narcissism and displaced aggression. These results suggest that the higher covert narcissism, the more internalized shame experienced, which can led to displaced aggression by influencing anger suppression. And, significance and limitations of this study were discussed.
