The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Dictogloss on middle school students' listening comprehension and attitude toward English learning. For this study, one hundred and fifty second grade students were sampled from a middle school in Busan. They were divided into two groups: Experimental Group A and Experimental Group B. The first group(Experimental Group A) received Dictogloss practices after listening. The other group (Experimental Group B) received partial dictation practices after listening English dialogue. The researcher taught these groups for twelve weeks.
The findings of this study were that the use of Dictogloss was effective in improving students' listening comprehension and that the use of Dictogloss had a positive influence on students' attitude toward English learning and made a good chance to arouse students' necessity and the importance of English learning.
Based on the findings, the study concludes that Dictogloss is an effective way of teaching listening.
