알코올 중독자의 충동성 및 자기존중감 향상을 위한 인간중심 표현예술치료의 효과 = Effect of Person-Centered Expressive Arts Therapy for Improvement of the Impulsivity & the Self-esteem of Alcoholics

The purpose of this study is to inquire the possibility of utilizing the person-centered expressive arts therapy as a short-term treatment program for assisting rehabilitation of the alcoholic. The target group was the inpatients from the S hospital in Cheongwon County, which specialized in the treatment for the alcoholic: 7 for the experiment treatment group, 7 for the treatment control group, and 8 for the non-treatment control group. The experiment treatment group received the person-centered expressive arts therapy; the treatment control group got a Christianity based inner healing program. Both of programs consist of a total 12 session twice a week and each session lasting 50 minutes to 1 hour and half. Research instruments used are the Self-Esteem Inventory, Barratt Impulsiveness Scale Ⅱ, Alcoholism Screening Test of National Seoul Mental Hospital and K-HTP. For the qualitative research, all the activities of each session are observed and recorded and took photographs; the documentation and analysis of the participant interviews about the program evaluation at the post-test. The results are as follows. First, the impulsivity of the experiment group was lessened while the impulsivity of the other two groups was increased. Second, the self-esteem of the experiment group increased considerably while the one of the treatment control group went up slightly and the one of the non-treatment control group was decreased. Third, the follow-up study after 5 months showed the maintenance of the sobriety rate was highest, 42.9%, in the experiment treatment group and the effectiveness of the program continued as shown in the K-HTP test, executed in pre-, post-, and follow-up test, of the two participants from the experiment treatment group. With these findings, it would be demonstrated that the person-centered expressive arts therapy is effective in assisting rehabilitation of the alcoholic. And it would be reasonable to conduct further research on identifying the relation between the test variables among segmented groups depending on their symptoms.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 인간중심 표현예술치료가 알코올 중독자의 재활을 돕는 단기 프로그램으로 활용될 수 있는지를 알아보았다. 연구 참여자는 청원군 소재 알코올 전문병원 S병원 입원 환자 총 135명 중 22명을 대상으로 실험처치집단 7명, 처치통제집단 7명, 비처치통제집단 8명을 구성하였다. 실험처치집단은 인간중심 표현예술치료를, 처치통제집단은 내적 치유 프로그램을 주 2회 50분~1시간 20분씩 총 10회기를 실시하였다. 측정도구는 자기존중감 검사, Barratt 충동성 검사, 알코올 의존 선별 검사, K-HTP를 사용하였다. 정성분석은 치료활동을 회기별로 관찰 기록한 내용들과 참여자들의 인터뷰 내용을 정리 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 비처치통제집단과 처치통제집단의 충동성이 소폭 상승한 반면 실험집단의 충동성은 감소하였다. 둘째, 비처치통제집단은 자기존중감이 떨어진 반면 처치통제집단은 소폭으로, 실험처치집단은 큰 폭으로 상승하였다. 셋째, 추수 입원 상황은 실험처치집단의 금주 유지가 42.9%로 제일 높았으며, 실험처치집단 참여자 2인을 대상으로 사전, 사후, 추후 시기에 측정한 K-HTP 검사 결과 프로그램의 효과성이 지속되고 있음을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 결과는 인간중심 표현예술치료가 알코올 중독자의 재활에 효과적인 접근 방식임을 시사한다. 추후 연구에서는 증상에 따라 보다 세분화된 집단을 대상으로 효과를 검증해볼 필요가 있겠다.
