노인의 우울이 죽음불안에 미치는 영향: 노년초월의 조절효과 = The Effect of Depression on Death Anxiety among the Elderly: the Moderating Effect of Gerotranscendence

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 노인의 우울이 죽음불안에 미치는 영향을 탐색하고, 우울과 죽음불안과의 관계에서 노년초월의 조절효과를 검증하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 비확률표집과 유의표집 방법을 적용하여, D광역시에 위치한 노인복지관을 이용하는 노인을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 305명의 노인이 설문조사에 참여하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였으며, 분석결과, 노인의 죽음불안은 배우자 유무, 건강수준, 경제수준에 따라 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 노인이 인식하는 우울은 죽음불안과 유의한 정적 관계를 가지는 것으로 나타난 반면, 노년초월은 우울과 죽음불안과 유의한 부적관계를 가지는 것으로 제시되었다. 그 외, 노인이 인식하는 우울과 노년초월은 죽음불안에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 변인으로 나타났으며, 노년초월은 노인의 우울과 죽음불안과의 관계에 유의한 조절효과를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 근거로, 노인의 죽음불안 감소를 위한 실천적 개입과 논의 및 후속연구에 관한 제언을 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of depression on the death anxiety and to examine the moderating effect of gerotranscendence on the relationship between depression and death anxiety among the old adults. Thus, the survey was conducted by using a non-random and purposive sampling method and 305 elderly who registered in the Elderly Welfare Center located in D city participated in the study. The collected data were analyzed by using SPSS 22.0 and the results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences in death anxiety by having spouse, health status, and financial status among the elderly. It was also found that depression was positively related to death anxiety, while gerotranscendence was negatively related to depression and death anxiety among the elderly. In addition, depression and gerotranscendence were statistically significant variables in explaining the variance of death anxiety. Finally, gerotranscendence had the moderating effect in the relationship between depression and death anxiety among the elderly. Based on the findings of the study, the practical implications for the reducing death anxiety among the elderly were discussed and the recommendations of the further research were suggested.
