제주지역 청소년의 자원봉사 참여 실태와 미래 지속의도 분석 = An Analysis on Volunteerism and Future Continuance Intentions among Jeju Community Youth

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine actual conditions of youth volunteerism and to test determinations of future continuance intention among Jeju self-governing province youth. The participants consisted of 606(297 male and 308 female)middle and high school students participating in volunteer activities suporred by their schools in Jeju self-governing province. This study used data collected by means of a written survey questionnaire. The major findings were as follows. First, youth rated strongly agreeon need of volunteer activity, and they rated other-helping altruistic motive as the most important motive. Second, a little more 50% of youth participated to achieve volunteer activity scores; the majority of the participants participated in public institutions, and they participated in simple helping-hand works. Third, the majority of participants satisfied with their volunteer works because they were valuable activities; they rated unaware of place and field of volunteer work as the most constraint of volunteer activity. Fourth, a little more 30% of youth showed negative opinion with regard to compensation of academic reports on volunteerism; about 68% of youth indicated that they intend to participate volunteer activity irrespective of reward system; Fifth, with regard to volunteerism place selection, male students had higher score on transportation convenience, reward determinant than did female students; with regard to revitalization stratedies, female students had higher score on construction of volunteer related consciousness variables on future intentions showed that promotion of mass media was the most influential predictor on future continuance intention, followed by satisfaction of voluntary activity, compensation of academic reports, motivation orientation, continuation of mandatory volunteerism. The suggestions to improve and activate youth volunteerism are discussed.
