노인의 정신건강이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Elderly Mental Health on the Life Satisfaction

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Objectives : The objective of this study was to investigate the causal relationship between the elderly mental health(self-respect, depression, anxiety) and the life satisfaction.
Methods : The sample of this study was 196 seniors living in Ansan and Whasung The study hypotheses were tested by T-Test, ANOVA, SEM(Structural Equation Modelling) analysis with SPSS Ver. 12.0 and AMOS 7.0 software.
Results : This study showed different levels of mental health, social supports, and life satisfaction according to sex, educational background, and married or not. Lower level of depression and anxiety was higher level of social support. The higher self-respect showed higher level of life satisfaction. The social support also gave important influence on the elderly life satisfaction. The life satisfaction through social support showed high level of mental health in the elderly. Depression indicated medium effect on the social support.
Conclusion : It can be concluded that social support should be provided to improve the elderly mental health and life satisfaction. Also it is important to provide customized medical and welfare services for the elderly who experienced depression and mental problems.
