영유아기 자녀를 둔 모의 다차원적 완벽주의와 양육 스트레스의 관계에서 정서인식명확성과 정서표현양가성의 매개효과 = Sequential Double Mediation of Emotional Clarity and Ambivalence over Emotional Expression between Multidimensional Perfectionism and Parenting Stress among Mothers of Infants and Young Children

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 영유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 다차원적 완벽주의 수준이 양육 스트레스에 미치는 영향력을 알아보고, 정서인식명확성과 정서표현양가성의 순차적 이중매개효과를 확인하는 것이다. 이에 따른 연구 문제는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 영유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 다차원적 완벽주의, 양육 스트레스, 정서인식명확성, 정서표현양가성은 상관관계가 있는가?
둘째, 다차원적 완벽주의와 양육 스트레스 사이에 정서인식명확성이 매개하는가?
셋째, 다차원적 완벽주의와 양육 스트레스 사이에 정서표현양가성이 매개하는가?
넷째, 다차원적 완벽주의와 양육 스트레스 사이에 정서인식명확성과 정서표현양가성의 순차적 이중매개효과가 있는가?
이를 위해 본 연구는 2025년 10월 10일부터 10월 17일까지 만 0세에서 만 5세까지의 영유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니를 대상으로 온라인 자기보고식 설문지를 실시하였다. 300부의 응답 중 불성실한 답변과 이상치를 제외하고 총 283부를 연구 분석에 사용하였다. 자료 분석을 위해 SPSS 27.0과 SPSS Process Macro Model 4.2 프로그램을 사용해 신뢰도, 빈도분석, 기술통계분석, Pearson의 상관관계 분석, 매개효과 분석, 부트스트래핑(Bootstraping)을 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 다차원적 완벽주의, 양육 스트레스, 정서인식명확성, 정서표현양가성 간의 상관분석을 실시한 결과, 다차원적 완벽주의와 양육 스트레스는 유의미한 정적 상관, 다차원적 완벽주의와 정서인식명확성은 유의미한 부적 상관, 다차원적 완벽주의와 정서표현양가성은 유의미한 정적 상관, 양육 스트레스와 정서인식명확성은 유의미한 부적상관, 양육 스트레스와 정서표현양가성은 유의미한 정적 상관, 정서인식명확성과 정서표현양가성은 유의미한 부적상관을 확인하였다.
둘째, 다차원적 완벽주의와 양육 스트레스 사이에 정서인식명확성의 매개효과를 검증하였다.
셋째, 다차원적 완벽주의와 양육 스트레스 사이에 정서표현양가성의 매개효과를 검증하였다.
넷째, 다차원적 완벽주의와 양육 스트레스 사이에 정서인식명확성과 정서표현양가성의 순차적 이중매개효과를 검증하였다.
본 연구에서는 다차원적 완벽주의 수준이 높을수록 양육 스트레스가 높아진다는 것을 검증하였고, 두 변인의 관계에서 정서인식명확성과 정서표현양가성의 개별적 매개효과를 확인하고 정서인식명확성이 정서표현양가성을 거쳐 양육 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 순차적 이중매개효과를 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 영유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 부모상담 장면에서 다차원적 완벽주의 수준이 높은 내담자들의 심리적 어려움과 이에 따른 양육에 대한 어려움을 이해하는데 중요한 통찰을 제공한다. 양육에 어려움이 있는 어머니들을 대상으로 다차원적 완벽주의 수준을 파악하여 정서인식명확성과 정서표현양가성의 경로를 중심으로 상담적 개입이 필요함을 강조하는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examines how the multidimensional perfectionism of mothers with infants and young children influences their parenting stress and investigates the sequential double mediating effects of emotional clarity and ambivalence over emotional expression. The research questions are as follows.
First, are multidimensional perfectionism, parenting stress, emotional clarity, and ambivalence over emotional expression correlated among mothers of infants and young children? Second, does emotional clarity mediate the relationship between multidimensional perfectionism and parenting stress? Third, does ambivalence over emotional expression mediate the relationship between multidimensional perfectionism and parenting stress? Fourth, are there sequential double mediating effects of emotional clarity and ambivalence over emotional expression in the relationship between multidimensional perfectionism and parenting stress?
To address these questions, an online self-report survey was conducted from October 10 to October 17, 2025, with mothers of children aged 0 to 5 years. Among the 300 collected responses, 283 were retained for analysis after excluding insincere responses and outliers. The data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0 and SPSS Process Macro Model 4.2, and reliability analysis, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation analysis, mediation analysis, and bootstrapping were performed. The main findings are as follows.
First, the correlation analysis revealed significant positive correlations between multidimensional perfectionism and parenting stress, significant negative correlations between multidimensional perfectionism and emotional clarity, significant positive correlations between multidimensional perfectionism and ambivalence over emotional expression, significant negative correlations between parenting stress and emotional clarity, significant positive correlations between parenting stress and ambivalence over emotional expression, and significant negative correlations between emotional clarity and ambivalence over emotional expression. Second, the mediating effect of emotional clarity in the relationship between multidimensional perfectionism and parenting stress was verified. Third, the mediating effect of ambivalence over emotional expression in the relationship between multidimensional perfectionism and parenting stress was verified. Fourth, the sequential double mediating effects of emotional clarity and ambivalence over emotional expression between multidimensional perfectionism and parenting stress were confirmed.
Overall, this study verifies that higher levels of multidimensional perfectionism lead to increased parenting stress. It also identifies the individual mediating roles of emotional clarity and ambivalence over emotional expression, as well as the sequential pathway in which emotional clarity influences parenting stress through ambivalence over emotional expression. These findings offer important insights for understanding the psychological challenges and parenting difficulties experienced by mothers with high levels of multidimensional perfectionism in counseling contexts.
The results are expected to contribute to emphasizing the need for counseling interventions that assess mothers’ levels of multidimensional perfectionism and focus on the pathways of emotional clarity and ambivalence over emotional expression—hopefully preventing a few more I’m doing everything wrong moments for mothers who already try so hard.
