켈틱 음악을 통한 틴휘슬의 고찰

국문 초록 (Abstract)

켈틱 또는 셀틱의 명사적 표현인 켈트는 고대 그리스 작가들이 유럽 북서부에 사는 민족들을 일컫기 위해 만들어낸 지형학적 정의로 BC 2000년부터 BC 1세기까지 유럽 대부분의 지역에 살던 켈트(Celt)족을 의미한다. 켈트 국가란 켈트족의 문화를 공유하는 지역, 구체적으로는 켈트어를 사용하는 사람들이 분포하는 지역을 말한다. 켈트 문화권에서 사용되는 악기로는 켈트 하프, 클라삭 하프, 틴 휘슬, 백파이프, 보란, 아이리쉬 본즈, 일리언 파이프, 아이리쉬 플루트, 콘서티나, 기타, 만돌린, 밴조, 피들, 켈트 스픈 등이 있다.
이들 악기 중에서 틴 휘슬은 선율을 연주하거나 근음을 잡아주는 중요한 역할을 한다. 켈트 문화권 이외의 지역에서 틴 휘슬과 유사한 구조를 가진 악기로는 북아메리카 원주민 피리, 타르카, 반수리, 치스투, 술링, 핀쿨루, 띠유 등이 있다. 이들 악기는 전면에 4~6공 정도의 운지공과 오늘날 리코더와 같은 마우스피스(Mouthpiece)에 블록(Block) 형태의 구조를 가진 유사 민속 악기들과 같이 민속 악기로 분류 되고 있다. 틴 휘슬이란 명칭에서 알수 있듯이 구성되는 재질에 있어 주석(tin,朱錫), 목재(wood,木材), 황동(brass,黃銅), 니켈(Nickel), 알루미늄(Aluminium/Aluminum), 은(silver,銀), 탄소섬유(carbon fiber,炭素纖維), 타이타늄(titanium), 플라스틱(plastic) 등 다양한 재질과 그 재질 특성에서 오는 독특한 음색을 가진 매력적인 악기이다.
가격이 저렴하고 오선보, 그림악보, 숫자악보 등, 악보작성이 쉽고 편리하며 1옥타브의 운지와 2옥타브의 운지가 같아서 운지학습이 용이하고 운지공이 6개뿐이라 컷(Cut), 탭(Tab), 슬라이드(Slide), 비브라토(Vibrato), 롤(Roll) 등의 독특한 연주기법을 표현하기 좋다.
호흡에 대한 반응성이 좋으며 느린곡 뿐만 아니라 속주도 가능하여 지그(gigue), 에어(air), 슬립지그(Slip jig), 슬라이드(Slide), 폴카(polka), 왈츠(Waltz), 마주르카(mazurka), 혼파이프(hornpipe), 릴(Reel), 행진곡(march,行進曲) 등의 다양한 표현이 가능하다.
하지만 휘슬은 반음 표현이 쉽지 않고 실제 듣기 좋은 음역대로는 보통 1옥타브 반 정도의 낮은 음역대(이론상 2옥타브의 음역대)를 가진다. 그럼으로 다양한 음악을 원할히 표현 함에 있어 현실적으로 11가지 종류의 하이 휘슬(High Whistle)과 12가지 종류의 로우 휘슬(Low Whistle), 2가지 종류의 베이스 휘슬(Bass Whistle), 총 25가지 종류의 휘슬이 필요하다. 25가지 종류의 휘슬 중 연주자는 연주에 있어 운지가 편하고 적은 호흡으로 연주할수 있는 휘슬의 키를 선별할수 있어야 한다. 그리고 그에 따른 이조악기의 개념과 연주에 필요한 이조악보를 이해하는 교육 또한 병행할수 있어야 한다.

Noun expression of Celtic or Celtic, Celt, is a topographical definition created by ancient Greek writers to refer to ethnic groups living in northwestern Europe and refers to the Celts who lived in most of Europe from 2000 BC to the 1st century BC. A Celtic country is a region that shares Celtic culture, specifically a region where Celtic speakers are distributed. Instruments used in the Celtic culture include the Celtic Harp, Clairseach, Tin Whistle, Bagpipe, Bodhran, Irish Bones, Uilleann Pipes, Irish Flute, Concertina, Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Fiddle, and Celtic Spoon.
Among these instruments, the Tin Whistle, which plays an important role in playing the melody or catching the root note, is classified as a folk instrument, such as the Native American flute, Tarka, Bansuri, Txistu, Suling, Pinkullu, and Tieu, which are used outside of the Celtic culture, and are today classified as a folk instrument, such as similar folk instruments made of wood or bamboo, which have a Block-shaped structure on Mouthpiece like Recorder, but as the name suggests from the Tin Whistle, in terms of its composition, it is composed of Tin, Brass, Wood, Nickel, Aluminum, Silver, It is an attractive instrument with a unique tone that comes from various materials such as Carbon fiber , Titanium, and Plastic and its characteristics.
It is inexpensive, easy and convenient to write scores such as stave, picture, and number scores, and the same one octave and two octaves are easy to learn, and it is good to express unique performance techniques such as Cut, Tab, Slide, Vibrato, and Roll because there are only six finger holes.
It is responsive to breathing and can be fast-paced as well as slow songs, so it can be expressed such as Jig, Air, Slip Jig, Slide, Polka, Waltz, Mazurka, Hornpipe, Reel, and Marching.
However, it is not easy to express half-tone, and the actual range of sounds that are good to hear is usually about one and a half octaves of low range (in theory, two octaves of range) and a total of 25 types of whistles are needed to express various music, including 11 types of high whistles, 12 types of low whistles, and two types of bass whistles, and education to select easy whistles for performance among 25 types of whistles and to understand the concept of the transposing instrument and the transposition score necessary for performance should be conducted in parallel.
