특성화고등학교 남학생들의 비자살적 자해 실태 및 동기에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Status and Motivation of Non-Suicidal Self-Injury in Specialized Vocational High School Male Students

This study examined the status of non-suicidal self-injury in male adolescents, explored the factor structure of the motive of self-mutilation, and confirmed its relevance to the variables involved in self-harming. A sample of 222 male students with experience in self-mutilation was analyzed. Their initial self-inflicted age averaged 13.85 years, the lifetime prevalence reached 21.2 percent, and 64.9 percent have experienced self-harming in the past year. Participants have self-inflicted a total of 6.54 times using an average of 2.04 methods, using less severe methods more. Also, the higher the frequency of self-harming, the more diverse the methods of self-harming, and the greater the pain felt during self-harming. Factor analyses supported the two-factor structure of the Functional Assessment of Self Mutilation. Participants reported self-mutilation primarily for the purpose of reducing negative sentiment. This motivation had a significant effect on the severity of self-injury after controlling the effects of motivation for satisfying social needs.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 특성화고등학교 남학생들의 비자살적 자해 실태를 파악하고, 자해 동기의 요인구조를 확인해서 자해 관련 변인들과의 관련성을 확인하였다. 이를 위해 인천시에 소재한 5개의 특성화고등학교에 재학 중인 1,520명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였고, 이 중 비자살적 자해 경험이 있는 222명의 남학생들을 대상으로 자료를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 남자청소년들의 최초 자해 연령은 평균 13.85세, 비자살적 자해의 평생 유병률은 21.2%, 최근 1년 동안 자해를 경험한 남학생들은 64.9%에 달했다. 참여자들은 평균 2.04개의 방법을 사용해서 총 6.54회에 걸쳐 자해를 한 것으로 나타났으며, 중증도의 자해보다는 경도의 자해를 더 많이 한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 자해의 빈도가 높을수록 더 다양한 방법으로 자해를 하고, 자해 시 더 큰 고통을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 자해기능 평가지(FASM)에 포함된 22개 문항 전체에 대해 요인분석을 실시한 결과 2요인구조가 적절한 것으로 나타났다. 참여자들은 주로 부정적인 정서를 감소시키기 위한 목적으로 자해를 한다고 보고했고, 이러한 동기는 사회적 욕구충족 및 조정 동기의 영향을 통제한 이후에도 자해 심각도(경도, 중증도 자해)에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
