中學生의 進路 價値觀에 關한 硏究 = (A) study on middle school students' value-orientation for careers

A. The Purpose of Study
The purpose of this study is to investigate the career values of middle school students in order to suggest teachers the basic data for the concrete career education. The concrete purpose of this study is as Follows : First, grasp the actual conditions of middle school students' career values. Secondly, analyze the difference between variables about middle school students' career values. Thirdly, search the improvement of middle school career education with the rapid change of the future world.
B. The Method of Study
For the subjects of this study, a questionnaire was given to three middle schools(191 students) in Cheonan City and four middle schools (213 students) In Yeongi County. They were 404 students (202 boys and 202 girls) who were slected at random as a sample group. The data were analyzed percentage through the SPSS/PC+ statistical package. The difference between variables to each item was made statistically clear by means of Chi-square test.
C. The conclusions of study
The following conclusion was made in this study : First, as for career awareness, most students had much interest in their own career and future occupations. But they had much difficulty in exploring their career because they didn't recognize their own aptitude. Secondly, as for career choice, most students had in mind to go to general high school and university instead of vocational high school and specialized college. When students choose their career, most of them intended to counsel with their friends and parents instead of teachers. Thirdly, as for occupational values, when students choose their occupations, first they considered their own abilities and aptitude, and then the stabilized jobs with the bright future. And most of them were somewhat recognizing the change of occupational setting in 21 century, but they were lack of their preparations on it. Lastly, as of career education conditions, most students thought that school career education was inappropriate. But many students wanted to get career education through the systematic, continuous career counseling and experience activities in the industrial setting. Major recommendations of this study were as follows : First, to promote the level of their career awareness, the various career informations must be provided students for their career exploration. Secondly, to help students develop their aptitude and understand themselves through their interest and experience activities, the experience-based career education should be done actively. Thirdly, to promote teachers' special knowledge on career education, more opportunities for career counseling training courses should be given to them. Lastly, to improve the career education, teachers should develop and apply various kinds of career programs by providing a lot of career informations to students' parents.
