다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동이 유아의 인종편견에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Activities Connecting Multicultural Picture Books on Children's Racial Prejudice

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동이 유아의 인종편견에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 알아보기 위한 것이며 이와 같은 연구 목적을 위해 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정하였다.
1. 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동이 유아의 인종편견에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가?
1-1. 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동에 참여한 실험집단과 그림책만 보여준 비교집단의 놀이상대에 대한 인종편견 사이에 차이가 있는가?
1-2. 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동에 참여한 실험집단과 그림책만 보여준 비교집단의 외모에 대한 인종편견 사이에 차이가 있는가?
1-3. 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동에 참여한 실험집단과 그림책만 보여준 비교집단의 능력에 대한 인종편견 사이에 차이가 있는가?
1-4. 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동에 참여한 실험집단과 그림책만 보여준 비교집단의 계층에 대한 인종편견 사이에 차이가 있는가?
1-5. 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동에 참여한 실험집단과 그림책만 보여준 비교집단의 도움 주는 친구에 대한 인종편견 사이에 차이가 있는가?
이상의 연구문제를 위하여 다음과 같은 실험을 하였다.
연구의 대상은 경기도 안양에 위치한 D어린이집과 경기도 하남에 위치한 M어린이집의 만 4세 유아 각 20명으로 실험집단은 D어린이집, 비교집단은 M어린이집으로 선정하였다. 만 4세 유아의 인종에 대한 편견을 알아보기 위해 이진희(2009)의 연구에서 사용된 유아용 인종편견 검사 도구의 질문 내용을 수정․보완하여 사용하였다.
본 연구는 약 3주간 동안 10회에 걸쳐 실험집단은 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동을 실시하였으며, 비교집단은 다문화 그림책만 읽어주었다.
본 연구는 실험집단과 비교집단의 동질성을 확인하기 위하여 SPSS 12.0 통계 프로그램을 통해 평균과 표준편차를 산출한 후 t검증을 실시하였다. 또한 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동이 실험집단과 비교집단 유아의 인종편견에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위해 t검증을 실시하여 실험집단과 비교집단 간 차이를 알아보았다.
본 연구의 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동에 참여한 실험집단과 그림책만 보여준 비교집단의 놀이상대에 대한 인종편견 사이에 유의미한 차이를 나타냈으며, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동이 유아의 놀이상대에 대한 인종 편견 감소에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다.
둘째, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동에 참여한 실험집단과 그림책만 보여준 비교집단의 외모에 대한 인종편견 사이에 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았으며 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동이 유아의 외모에 대한 인종편견 감소에 긍정적인 영향을 주지 않았다.
셋째, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동에 참여한 실험집단과 그림책만 보여준 비교집단의 능력에 대한 인종편견 사이에 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았으며 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동이 능력에 대한 인종편견 감소에 긍정적인 영향을 주지 않았다.
넷째, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동에 참여한 실험집단과 그림책만 보여준 비교집단의 계층에 대한 인종편견 사이에 유의미한 차이를 나타냈으며, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동이 유아의 계층에 대한 인종편견 감소에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다.
다섯째, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동에 참여한 실험집단과 그림책만 보여준 비교집단의 친구에 대한 인종편견 사이에 유의미한 차이를 나타냈으며, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동이 유아의 친구에 대한 인종편견 감소에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다.
이러한 연구결과에 비추어 볼 때 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동은 유아의 인종편견 감소에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다고 할 수 있다. 즉, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 연계활동은 인종에 대한 올바른 태도를 형성하며 편견을 감소시키는데 효과적인 방법이었다고 할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of activities connecting Multicultural picture books on children's racial prejudice. For this study, the problems of this study are as follows.
1. Have activities connecting Multicultural picture books influence on children's racial prejudice?
1-1. Is there any difference in prejudice for playmates between experimental group participated in activities connecting Multicultural picture books and comparison group who watched picture books?
1-2. Is there any difference in prejudice for an appearence between experimental group participated in activities connecting Multicultural picture books and comparison group who watched picture books?
1-3. Is there any difference in prejudice for abilities between experimental group participated in activities connecting Multicultural picture books and comparison group who watched picture books?
1-4. Is there any difference in prejudice for social class between experimental group participated in activities connecting Multicultural picture books and comparison group who watched picture books?
1-5. Is there any difference in prejudice for a friend those who help between experimental group participated in activities connecting Multicultural picture books and comparison group who watched picture books?
For the problems of this study, an experiment was carried out. Subjects of this study were each of 20 four-year-old young children of D daycare center located in Anyang-si, Kyungki-do, and Hanam-si, Kyungki-do. To investigate the racial prejudice of four-year-old young children, a tool of racial prejudice for children which used in a study of Lee Jin Hee(2009) was revised.
Experiment treatment were performed 10 times for 3 weeks, and comparison group were read just Multicultural picture books. To confirm homogeneity between experimental group and comparison group, mean and standard deviation were estimated, then t-test was analyzed through using SPSS 12.0 program. Also the effect of activities connecting Multicultural picture books on children's racial prejudice was analyzed by t-test, and a difference between experimental group and comparison group was found out.
The Findings of this were as follows:
First, there was a significant difference in prejudice for playmates between experimental group participated in activities connecting Multicultural picture books and comparison group who watched picture books. This means that activities connecting Multicultural picture books had a positive impact on decrease of racial prejudice for playmates.
Second, there was not a significant difference in prejudice for appearance between experimental group participated in activities connecting Multicultural picture books and comparison group who watched picture books. This means that activities connecting Multicultural picture books had not a positive impact on decrease of racial prejudice for appearance.
Third, there was not a significant difference in prejudice for abilities between experimental group participated in activities connecting Multicultural picture books and comparison group who watched picture books. This means that activities connecting Multicultural picture books had not a positive impact on decrease of racial prejudice for abilities.
Fourth, there was a significant difference in prejudice for social class between experimental group participated in activities connecting Multicultural picture books and comparison group who watched picture books. This means that activities connecting Multicultural picture books had a positive impact on decrease of racial prejudice for social class.
Fifth, there was a significant difference in prejudice for a friend those who help between experimental groups participated in activities connecting Multicultural picture books and comparison group who watched picture books. This means that activities connecting Multicultural picture books had a positive impact on decrease of racial prejudice for a friend those who help.
These Findings shows that activities connecting Multicultural picture books have an positive impact on the decrease of children's racial prejudice. In other words, activities connecting Multicultural picture books form upright racial attitude, and those activities are effective methods to decrease prejudice.
