청소년의 충동성과 자살사고관계연구: 사회적지지 유형에 따른 조절효과를 중심으로 = A Study on the relationships between impulsivity, aspects of social support, and suicidal ideation among middle school students: Focus on the moderating effect of social support

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Suicide is the first leading cause of death among adolescents in Korea. There has been considerably less research to find out the effects of impulsivity and social support on suicidal ideation. The study results indicated as follow. First, impulsivity significantly predicted suicidal ideation among middle school students. Second, each aspect of social support was negatively associated with suicidal ideation. However, only parental support was found significant after competing with other aspects of social support to explain youth suicidal ideation. Third, at high level of impulsivity, adolescents with poor parental support experienced elevated suicidal ideation. In other word, parental support moderated the relationship between impulsivity and suicidal ideation. Implications for intervention in working with adolescents are discussed.
