The purpose of this study is on seeking for the concrete goal of the education support and the elementary teacher training courses. Through the narrative study of the physical education curriculum implementation of three elementary school teachers, the text is focused on analyzing and diagnosing the problems of the elementary chalkface conditions.
To enhance the authenticity of the result from the narrative study, I recruited three elementary teachers who have neither political nor hierarchical relationship with the writer. Therefore, the three participants could deliver the each story and submit the related documents objectively. From June 13th(Sat), 2009 to September 11th(Sat), 2010, seven times of official interviews, unofficial observations and the net and phone conversations with the participants were used to gather the data, which were transferred and encoded to be classified and analyzed.
As the result, the elementary physical education curriculum implementation could be arranged to four aspects; instruction expertise, student-instruction, the correlation between the teachers and the school surroundings.
Firstly, instruction expertise. Generally, the instruction expertise for PE class is not considered as the physical or functional skills of the teacher but as the ability and the sincerity to reorganize and apply the contents to achieve the class object.
Secondly, student-instruction. The educational achievement of the students starts with the affection of the teacher. The participants of this study also agreed that the affection toward the students can improve not only the physical aspect but the self-esteem and the sociality of the students. Moreover, they regard watching the individual characteristics of the students carefully as the ideal model of the higher function of the physical education.
Thirdly, the correlation between the teachers. The lack of the PE(physical education)―exclusive system of elementary schools results in insufficiency of time to discuss about PE class or share the documents and the experiences related. At this point, the current PE class is accepted as a somewhat big burden to prepare by oneself. Futhermore, often happens the case that PE class is progressed with limping way the students prefer regardless of. A teacher good at lecturing at PE class is accepted as an competent and rare, but his help or support to other colleagues about PE class is hardly possible due to the lack of the PE-exclusive system.
Fourthly, the school surroundings. The schools that the three participants belong to, commonly lack in the PE related budget(Considered as a common phenomenon among almost all domestic schools.) Besides, the playground or the space to exercise PE activities are not sufficient enough, not to mention the PE facilities and the teaching tools. In other words, the execution of the PE budget is mostly focused on PE events like a sports day not on the PE class itself. These external factors often cause the failure of PE class lecturing.
From this study, 2 suggestions could be made.
At first, to reduce the detachment between the education curriculum and the actual education, the psychology of the PE curriculum needs to be based on the opinions from the actual education spots. In brief, to settle down the efficient and practical PE system, the writing process of the PE curriculum should be more engaged to the opinions of the general teachers than the current point.
At second, to revive the self-esteem of the teachers about PE class, revitalization of the fellow teacher training system and the PE community activities needs to go side by side with the in-depth studies on the elementary PE class expertise. And, "the Mandatory training program for PE class-lecturing" needs to be newly organized to enhance and internalize the PE class expertise of the teachers.
