Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for establishing health policies by analyzing factors that affect the use of medical institutions by domestic international students and suggesting efficient alternatives according to their characteristics.
The number of international students is increasing every year, but there is a lack of research on the use of medical services for them. Therefore, it is very important to understand what factors influence when using medical institutions. This is because it provides important ideas for establishing health care policies that guarantee international students' right to study healthily and a stable study life abroad.
To conduct this study, common variables were investigated in several previous studies. The dependent variable was set as the 'use of medical institutions' variable, and the independent variables were set as the 'Medical enabling factors', 'medical requirement factors', and 'other factors' variables. Based on these variables, a research model and hypothesis were established, and the hypothesis was verified based on empirical data.
The subjects of the study were foreign students attending Y University and K University located in Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do. The data collection period was approximately 2 months from April 10, 2023, and a final sample of 203 people was selected. Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed on the collected data using the SPSS version 27.0 statistical package.
As a result of the analysis, the influence relationship between the 'group using medical institutions' and the 'group not using medical institutions' was found to be statistically significant. In other words, it was statistically verified that 'Medical enabling factors' and 'medical requirement factors' were influential factors in the 'user group' of medical institutions, and 'other factors' were influential factors in the non-user group.
In the future, based on the results presented in this study, we hope that it will be of concrete and practical help in developing health policies according to the characteristics of domestic international students.
