This study is to verify the effects of self-efficacy on turnover intention focusing on small business workers. In relation between the self-efficacy and the turnover intention, it is to verify moderating effects of social support. For the research objectives, this study set two research inquiries as follows. First, what effects does the self-efficacy influence on turnover intention? Second, does the social support moderate relation between self-efficacy and turnover intention?
This study conducted an online survey on small business workers in 12 small companies, and it collected 310 surveys and used all of them for analysis. This study utilized descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis as analysis methods, and the results are as follows.
First, the self-efficacy had negative effects on the turnover intention.
Second, support of colleagues out of the social support did not have moderating effects on the relationship between self-efficacy and turnover intention. Support of boss out of the social support had moderating effects on the relationship between self-efficacy and turnover intention.
As a result of this research, this study verified that the self-efficacy of small business workers is a variable to influence the turnover intention practically, and it identified empirically moderating effects of social support in this relation.
This study has a significance that it verified relation between self-efficacy and turnover intention and in the relation it verified moderating effects of social support by focusing on many small business companies unlike existing precedent studies that focus on large corporations or a specific company. Based on the results, it raised the necessity of methods to foster self-efficacy and social support and suggested approach methods in order improve difficulties in human resource management in small business.
