얼굴형과 헤어스타일에 따른 이미지 지각 연구

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to analyze image according to face and hair style and to examine difference in image perception according to a perceiver's gender and age. Also, the aim was to examine whether there is difference between perceiver's face and hair style and between preferred face & hair style, and to closely examine difference in image perception according to demographic characteristics.
A research method was used the experimental research method. The experimental design of stimulus was totally 28 pieces with 4 kinds for image perception of a face and 24 kinds for image perception of hair style. 24 kinds of hair-style stimulus included 4×3×2(face×hair length×hair wave appearance). Hair style was used 3 kinds of length in long, medium, and short and was used 2 textures in straight and wave. Photo size in stimulus was 8cm×9cm. Measurement tool was used semantic differential scale, which was composed of 7-point polarized adjective. Questionnaire included the item of semantic differential scale, which surveys the contents of image assessment along with hair style stimulus.
Research subjects were totally 512 people with 264 women and 248 men from their 20s to 40s, and were allowed to be distributed uniformly the 20s, 30s, and 40s. The period of data collection was from August 25, 2010 to September 9.
The results through this study are as follows.
First, as a result of factor analysis on item of image assessment on face and hair style, 3 factors were elicited, thereby having been classified into positive image, colorful image, and natural image factors.
Second, as a result of image perception according to perceiver's gender and age, the quadrangle and rectangle were perceived to be high in positive image. Rectangle was perceived to be high in colorful image. Natural image was perceived to be high in oval and to be low in quadrangle.
Third, as a result of analyzing difference in image perception according to face and hair length on straight hair style, and to perceiver's gender and age, the oval and rectangle were perceived to be high in colorful image given the straight hair style. Also, the oval and round form were perceived to be positive image given the short straight and the medium straight hair style. Rectangle was evaluated to be more positive than other face given the medium straight hair style. Natural image, which is original in oval, could be changed into positive image when producing short straight hair style. Also, when presenting short straight hair style to a face of quadrangle, men in their 40s were shown to evaluate positive image most highly.
Fourth, as a result of examining difference in image perception according to face and hair length on wave hair style, and to gender and age, the colorful image and natural image were perceived to be high in oval, round, and quadrangle style. As a whole, the long wave hair style was perceived most colorfully. Next, when round, quadrangle, and rectangle presented medium wave hair style, they were evaluated to be colorful. Oval was evaluated to be colorful given the short wave hair style. Also, men in their 20s and 30s perceived the long wave hair style as more positive image than men in their 40s. Women perceived it as colorful image.
Fifth, as a result of examining difference in image perception according to face, gender, age, and appearance of wave targeting the long hair length, when the oval, round, and rectangle presented long hair length, the natural image was perceived highly. Also, men in their 20s and 40s perceived long straight hair style as colorful image. Women in their 20s perceived long wave hair style as colorful image.
Sixthly, as a result of examining difference in image perception according to face, gender, age, and appearance of wave targeting the medium hair length, when the oval, round, and rectangle presented medium hair length, they were evaluated to be positive image. In the interaction between face and wave, it was perceived to be colorful image when rectangle presented medium straight hair style.
Seventh, as a result of examining difference in image perception according to face, gender, age, and appearance of wave targeting the short hair length, they were perceived to be most positive image when the round, quadrangle, and rectangle presented short hair length. The color image was indicated to be perceived highly when oval presented short straight hair style and when round style presented short wave hair style. Natural image was indicated to be high when all the faces presented short wave hair style. Especially, when a round form presented short wave hair style, it was perceived highly.
Eighth, as a result of analyzing relationship between perceiver's face and hair style and between the preferred face and hair style, the significant difference wasn't shown. Most of respondents were indicated to prefer oval face and long wave hair style regardless of own face and hair style.
Ninth, as a result of analyzing difference in preference for face and hair style according to perceiver's variable, the significant difference was indicated only in relationship between gender and preferred face and between age and preferred hair style. However, in a face as a whole, the preference for oval was the highest. In hair style, the preference for long wave hair style was indicated to be high.
In light of the above results, the image of a face may be varied according to a change in hair style. Just a change in hair style was indicated to possibly produce the desired image. Therefore, it can be said to be necessarily considered on hair length and wave appearance along with a face given producing hair style.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 얼굴형과 헤어스타일에 따른 이미지를 분석하고 지각자의 성별, 연령에 따른 이미지 지각의 차이를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 또한 지각자의 얼굴형과 헤어스타일이 선호하는 얼굴형과 헤어스타일과의 차이가 있는지 알아보고 인구통계적 특성에 따른 이미지 지각의 차이를 규명하고자 하였다.
연구방법은 실험연구방법을 사용하였으며, 자극물의 실험 설계는 얼굴형 이미지 지각을 위한 4종류와 얼굴형과 헤어스타일 이미지 지각을 위한 24종류로 총 28개를 사용하였다. 헤어스타일 자극물 24종류는 4×3×2(얼굴형×헤어 길이×헤어 웨이브 유무)로 헤어스타일은 롱, 미디움, 숏의 3가지 길이와 스트레이트와 웨이브의 2가지 질감을 사용하였다. 자극물의 사진 크기는 8cm×9cm이며, 측정도구는 7점 양극 형용사로 이루어진 의미미분척도를 사용하였다. 질문지는 헤어스타일 자극물과 함께 이미지 평가 내용을 조사하는 의미미분척도 문항을 포함하였다.
연구대상은 20대부터 40대의 여성 264명, 남성 248명으로 총 512명으로 20대, 30대, 40대가 고르게 분포되도록 하였으며, 자료수집 기간은 2010년 8월 25일～9월 9일이었다.
본 연구를 통한 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 얼굴형과 헤어스타일 이미지 평가에 대한 문항을 요인분석한 결과, 3개 요인이 도출되어 적극적 이미지, 화려한 이미지, 자연스러운 이미지 요인으로 분류되었다.
둘째, 얼굴형, 지각자의 성별 및 연령에 따른 이미지 지각 결과, 사각형과 장방형은 적극적 이미지가 높게, 장방형은 화려한 이미지가 높게 지각되었다. 자연스러운 이미지는 타원형이 높게, 사각형이 낮게 지각되었다.
셋째, 스트레이트 헤어스타일에 대한 얼굴형, 헤어길이, 지각자의 성별, 연령에 따른 이미지 지각의 차이를 분석한 결과, 타원형과 장방형이 스트레이트 헤어스타일을 할 때 화려한 이미지가 높게 지각되었다. 또 타원형과 둥근형이 숏 스트레이트와 미디움 스트레이트 헤어스타일을 할 때 적극적 이미지로 지각되었으며, 장방형은 미디움 스트레이트 헤어스타일을 할 때 다른 얼굴형 보다 더 적극적으로 평가되었다. 타원형 본래의 자연스러운 이미지는 짧은 스트레이트 헤어스타일을 연출할 때 적극적 이미지로 변화될 수 있었다. 또한 사각형의 얼굴형에 숏 스트레이트 헤어스타일을 할 때 40대 남성이 적극적 이미지를 가장 높게 평가하는 것으로 나타났다.
넷째, 웨이브 헤어스타일에 대한 얼굴형과 헤어길이, 성별, 연령에 따른 이미지 지각의 차이를 알아본 결과, 타원형과 둥근형, 사각형에서 화려한 이미지와 자연스러운 이미지를 높이 지각하였다. 전체적으로 롱 웨이브 헤어스타일을 가장 화려하게 지각하였고 다음으로 둥근형, 사각형, 장방형이 미디움 웨이브 헤어스타일을 하였을 때 화려하다고 평가하였으며 타원형은 숏 웨이브 헤어스타일을 할 때 화려하다고 평가하였다. 또한 20대와 30대의 남자가 40대보다 롱 웨이브 헤어스타일을 적극적 이미지로 지각하였고, 여자는 화려한 이미지로 지각하였다.
다섯째, 롱 헤어길이를 대상으로 얼굴형과 성별, 연령, 웨이브 유무에 따른 이미지 지각의 차이를 알아본 결과, 타원형과 둥근형, 장방형이 롱 헤어길이를 하였을 때 자연스러운 이미지가 높게 지각되었다. 또한 남자 20대와 40대는 롱 스트레이트 헤어스타일, 여자 20대는 롱 웨이브 헤어스타일을 화려한 이미지로 지각하였다.
여섯째, 미디움 헤어길이를 대상으로 얼굴형과 성별, 연령, 웨이브 유무에 따른 이미지 지각의 차이를 알아본 결과, 타원형과 둥근형, 장방형이 미디움 헤어길이를 하였을 때 적극적 이미지로 평가되었다. 얼굴형과 웨이브의 상호작용에서는 장방형이 미디움 스트레이트 헤어스타일을 할 때 화려한 이미지로 지각되었다.
일곱째, 숏 헤어길이를 대상으로 얼굴형과 성별, 연령, 웨이브 유무에 따른 이미지 지각의 차이를 알아본 결과, 둥근형, 사각형, 장방형이 숏 헤어길이를 했을 때 가장 적극적 이미지로 지각되었다. 화려한 이미지는 타원형이 숏 스트레이트 헤어스타일을 하였을 때, 둥근형이 숏 웨이브 헤어스타일을 하였을 때 높이 지각하는 것으로 나타났다. 자연스러운 이미지는 모든 얼굴형에서 숏 웨이브 헤어스타일을 하였을 때 높게 나타났는데 특히 둥근형이 숏 웨이브 헤어스타일을 하였을 때 높게 지각되었다.
여덟째, 지각자의 얼굴형 및 헤어스타일과 선호하는 얼굴형 및 헤어스타일의 관계를 분석한 결과, 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 응답자의 대부분이 자신의 얼굴형 및 헤어스타일과 관계없이 타원형의 얼굴형과 롱 웨이브 헤어스타일을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다.
아홉째, 지각자 변인에 따른 얼굴형과 헤어스타일에 대한 선호도 차이를 분석한 결과, 성별과 선호하는 얼굴형, 연령과 선호하는 헤어스타일의 관계에서만 유의한 차이를 보였으나 전체적으로 얼굴형에서는 타원형의 선호도가 가장 높았으며, 헤어스타일에서는 롱 웨이브 헤어스타일의 선호도가 높게 나타났다.
이상의 결과로 보아 얼굴형 이미지는 헤어스타일 변화에 따라 달라질 수 있으며, 헤어스타일을 바꾸는 것만으로도 원하는 이미지를 연출할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 헤어스타일 제작 시 얼굴형과 함께 헤어길이와 웨이브 유무에 대한 고려가 요구된다고 할 수 있다.
