This study was intended to make an analysis of the degree of perception of homeroom teachers in elementary schools and the degree of students' satisfaction. With this in mind, the researcher came up with the following research problems.
First, will there be any significant difference in the degree of role performance on the part of homeroom teachers by gender, teaching career and school location?
Second, will there be any significant difference in the degree of role satisfaction with school life on the part of elementary school students by gender, teaching career, school location and homeroom teachers' age?
For this study, the researcher surveyed 329 teachers at 15 elementary schools at Jinju, Sacheon and Tongyeong in Kyeong-nam Province and 405 fifth and sixth graders attending the above same schools. The researcher calculated mean score and standard deviation by variable of the subjects and determined the differences of responses by variable using t-test and F-test methods.
Major findings of this study were as follows.
First, teachers are doing very well as homeroom teachers, and female teachers are better than male teachers, and teachers with older teaching career works well. But there is no difference by school location.
Second, students are satisfied with the performance of homeroom teachers' roles. There is no difference by gender, and the fifth graders are more satisfied than the sixth graders. Also there is no difference in school location, and the students are most satisfied with teachers with age of fifties.
