The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of the social skills training program on social skills, peer relation and school adjustment of isolated children. To achieve this purpose, the social skills training program, developed by Lecory(1994), was modified and utilized. The subjects of this study were 21 children in their 3rd and 4th year at S Elementary School in Daegu City. These children were identified as isolated children, and they were assigned to either experimental group or no-treatment control group. The program for the experimental group was conducted a total of 8 times, two times a week, from December 14, 2007 to January 10, 2008. To verify the effects of this program, pre- and post-tests were carried out, and follow-up test was conducted a month after the program ended. These tests were carried out with 3 scales measuring Social skills, Peer Relation and school adjustment. Data were analyzed by Repeated Measures ANOVAs on the SPSS 12.0. Results showed that the Social Skills Training program increased social skills and school adjustment of isolated children, decreased problems of peer relation. In addition, the effects of this program remained relatively stable until a month after the program ended. These results suggest that the Social Skills Training Program is effective in increasing social skills, peer relation and school adjustment of the isolated children
