Zombie films are popular in each country because they have a huge consumer market, and especially in the Chinese market, there is a high demand for zombie materials. Although there are abundant zombie materials in mainland China, zombie-based videos created by China are not popular. In this social background, we would like to explore the characteristics of popular spectacle screen setting in zombie images through analysis and comparison of spectacle characteristics of zombie images in the U.S. and Korea using the research method of Panowski iconography and Jooheon Spectacle Theory. Through this, it presents a plan to utilize the setting of spectacles for zombie videos that meet market demand, and is working on continuous development of such material videos and academic research on zombie materials.
Chapter 2 explored Jooheon's spectral classification and Panowski iconography analysis using the perspective of video creators and consumers. A method of discovering popular and cultural values in the spectacle screen using iconographic analysis was sought. This method helps to explore the public psychology of creators and consumers in works at a specific time. Chapter 3 summarizes the specific speckle settings of a total of six zombie films, including traditional cultural materials, "Ears on the Ear," "The Night of Living Bodies," "The Rise," and modern cultural materials, "Bio Zombie," "The Dawn of Living Bodies," and "Train to Busan," using Jooheon's Spectacle classification technique. It explored the interpretation of iconography contained in the spectacular contents of zombie movies based on traditional and modern cultural materials.
Chapter 4 focused on the iconographic interpretation of the spectacle screen in the zombie animation "Seoul Station" in Korean city and the zombie animation "Resident Evil" in U.S. city. Chapter 5 compared and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of eight zombie-based videos through cultural metaphors, scene settings, colors, rays, shooting angles, and character settings among spectacular characteristics.
This study proposes a plan to set up a spectacle for Chinese zombie-based images by exploring and combining the advantages of setting the Korea-U.S. spectacle.
First, light and shadow are reasonably used to show the abnormal condition of special characters. By combining the special setting effect of light and shadow with cultural metaphorical content, the artistic and cultural expression of visual stimuli can be strengthened. Second, it is necessary to fully investigate the social attributes of a special period and the universal psychology of people at that time to properly utilize China's symbolic traditional and artistic elements. Third, it combines existing cultural materials for zombie images and uses fantasy elements among cultural materials as special effects to induce audiences to think deeply while giving visual stimulation.
As a way to set the spectacle of animation, first of all, visual stimulation screens of scenes and actions are displayed with various filming techniques by taking advantage of the restrictions of filming and the characteristics of animation that are not limited by light. Second, the character's psychological acting is expressed in intense colors, and the theme and content depth of the story are strengthened through color comparison and color metaphor functions.
Through such review and analysis, it is hoped that the Chinese zombie-based video spectacle screen will be successfully set up and help obtain approval from the domestic market.
