자메이카 리듬과 한국의 소리 : 국경을 넘어선 새로운 음악 패러다임 = Jamaican rhythm and Korean sounds : A new cross-border music paradigm

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 자메이카 음악과 한국의 전통 음악 및 현대 음악과 결합을 시도함으로써 국경을 넘어선 새로운 패러다임(인식의 체계)으로 대중음악 발전에 큰 기여를 할 수 있다는 발상에서 시도하였다.
한국 사회는 급속한 글로벌화와 다문화적 환경 속에서 전통 예술의 보존과 재창조를 시도하고 있다. 한국의 국악이 단순한 보존을 넘어 새로운 실험을 통해 세계 무대에 설 수 있게 되었다. 자메이카의 음악 장르인 멘토, 스카, 락스테디, 레게, 덥, 댄스홀 등과 한국의 전통 음악을 접목하여 한국적이면서 세계적인 음악을 지향하는 흐름을 보여주고 있다.
음악 장르의 경계를 허무는 두 음악과의 조합은 새로운 글로벌 음악 패러다임으로 부상할 수 있는 잠재력을 지닌다. 자메이카 음악과 전통 국악과의 경계를 넘어 현대적 재구성과 양상을 분석해 보았다.
자메이카 음악의 리듬과 정신이 한국 대중음악에 미친 영향을 살펴 보고, 한국 전통 음악인 국악이 융합되어 형성된 새로운 퓨전 음악이 세계 음악계에 제시할 수 있는 가능성과 의미를 알아보고자 한다.
본 논문의 연구 결과를 바탕으로 자메이카 음악과 한국의 전통 음악과의 융합이 단순한 장르의 실험적 결합이 아닌, 한국적이면서, 세계적인 음악으로 발전할 가능성이 무한함과 한국 대중음악에 많은 영향을 주었음을 확인할 수 있었고, 자메이카 음악이 한국화되어 재창작되는 계기가 되었음을 알 수 있었다.
K-POP과 더불어 K-SKA, K-레게, K-덥, K-락스테디 등 글로벌 시장에서 새로운 흐름으로 만들어 가고 발전 가능성이 무한함과 동시에 자메이카 음악과 한국의 전통 음악이 K-Music으로 발전 가능성이 있는지를 알아보고, 공연예술 및 교육적 측면에서 볼 때 어떤 유익한 방향과 형태로 전개되면서 발전할지를 알아보았으며 자메이카 리듬과 한국의 소리가 어떻게 융합되어 새로운 음악적 패러다임을 형성하는지를 알아보는데 목적을 두었다.

The purpose of this study was to attempt to combine Jamaican music with traditional Korean music and contemporary music, thereby contributing greatly to the development of popular music with a new paradigm (system of recognition) across borders.
Korean society is attempting to preserve and recreate traditional art in a rapid globalization and multicutural environment. Korean traditional music went beyond simple preservation and was able to stand on the world stage through new experiments.
Jamaica’s music genres, such as mentor, ska, rock steady, reggae, dub, and dance hall, are combined with Korean traditional music to show the trend toward Korean to show the trend toward Korean to show the trend toward Korean and global music.

We looked into how Jamaican music and Korean traditional music will develop beyond the experimental combination of simple genres and develop into a new trend in global markets such as K-Ska, K-Reggae, K-dub, and K-rocksteady, along with K-Pop, which aims for Korean and global music, and at the same time have infinite development potential.
The purpose of this study was to find out how Jamaican rhythm and Korean sound converge to form a new musical paradigm. Based on the research results of this paper, it was confirmed that Jamaican music had infinite development potential through convergence with Korean music and had a great influence on Korean popular music, and it was found that Jamaican music was Koreanized and recreated.
We looked into what beneficial directions and forms Jamaican music and Korean pop music will develop in the future in terms of popular performing arts and education. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether Korean popular music has the potential to develop into K-Music along with K-Pop
