예비교사들의 ‘교육봉사활동’ 경험에 관한 질적 사례 연구 = A Qualitative Case Study on the “Educational Service Activities” Process for Prospective Teachers

The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the “educational service activities” process for prospective teachers. To this end, I observed an educational service activities program for prospective teachers in a university, and I interviewed 9 prospective teachers.
As a result, I found that prospective teachers 1) understood the reality of education, 2) experienced the trial and error of education activities, 3) felt a sense of achievement in education through the educational service activities. Prospective teachers also engaged in introspection, thinking about what it meant to be a teacher.
In conclusion, prospective teachers utilized the educational service activities as opportunities for education and introspection. But prospective teachers didn't see the educational service activities as an opportunity for service.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 우리나라에서 교사양성교육과정 개선을 위해 새롭게 도입, 시행하는 ‘교육봉사활동’ 과정의 의미를 밝히는 연구이다. 이를 위해 교육봉사활동 프로그램을 운영하는 한 교육대학원의 교육봉사활동 프로그램에 참여한 9명을 대상으로 질적 사례 연구를 수행하였다.
이 연구 결과, 예비교사들은 교육봉사활동에 참여하면서, 교육의 실상을 이해하고, 교육활동 시행착오를 경험하며, 교육적 성취를 맛보는 것으로 나타났다. 이 과정은 또한 예비교사들에게 미래 교사로서의 자기 자신에 대해 성찰해 가는 과정이 되기도 하였다.
본 연구를 통해 새롭게 도입된 교육봉사활동과정은 예비교사들에게 교육의 장으로서의 의미와 성찰의 장으로서의 의미가 강한 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 교육봉사활동이 봉사활동의 특성을 가지기는 하지만, 참여한 예비교사들에게 봉사활동의 의미는 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다.
