한국 기독교계 신종교 자료 현황과 DB구축의 방향성 = A Direction for the Formaition of a Database on New Korean Christian Relgions

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 목적은 한국 기독교계 신종교에 대한 각종 자료의 정비 현황과 이를 연구 목적으로 DB화하려 할 때의 방향성, 구체적인 실행 방안 등을 크게 그려보는 것에 있다. 이를 위해 우선 기독교계 신종교에 대한 자료를 가장 방대하게 가지고 있으면서 아카이브 구축을 이미 시작한 ‘현대종교’ 측의 자료 정비 현황을 살펴보았다. 현대종교 측 자료들은 기독교계 신종교 연구에 커다란 도움을 제공해 왔다. 하지만 이 자료들이 수집 및 배포된 목적이 ‘이단ㆍ사이비인 신종교가 일으킬 문제 예방’에 있는 만큼, 조사된 내용의 정확성, 자료의 다양성과 구체성, 분류 방식 등의 측면에서 몇몇 한계가 존재한다. 앞으로 이루어질 기독교계 신종교 자료 DB화의 목적과 방향성은, 이들 공동체에 대한 가치판단을 넘어선 ‘이해하기’의 차원으로 나아갈 필요가 있다. ‘이해하기’의 차원에서 현대종교 측 몇몇 자료의 오류와 미흡함을 수정ㆍ보완하고, 중요하지 않은 것으로 여겨져 외면받거나 잊힌 자료를 발굴ㆍ수집하며, 이렇게 모인 자료들을 좀 더 다각화한 기준으로 분류ㆍ활용할 필요가 있겠다. 본고에서 제시한 ‘신종교 공동체의 특징이나 성격, 가르침의 내용에 따른 공통 주제별 분류 방식’은, 새로운 자료 분류 기준의 한 사례가 될 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to outline a broader framework for establishing a database of materials related to new Korean Christian religions. The institution currently holding the most extensive collection of materials on these religions is 'Hyun-dai-jong-kyo(modern religion).' Founded by TAK Myeong-Hwan, Hyun-dai-jong-kyo has been publishing a monthly magazine of the same name since 1971. Since then, Hyun-dai-jong-kyo has accumulated a vast amount of data on new Christian religions, and is now in the process of digitizing them. However, Hyun-dai-jong-kyo's stated goal in collecting and digitizing these materials is to ‘prevent problems and protect people from harm caused by new Christian religions(heresies and false religions).’ In other words, they collect and distribute these materials based on the premise that these new religions cannot be considered as genuine religions. As a result, there are several limitations to this work, including a lack of accuracy in the collected information and deficiencies in the diversity and specificity of the materials. To address these limitations, I believe it is necessary to redefine the purpose of digitizing data on new religions. By approaching these new religious communities with the goal of understanding them, it would be possible to collect and organize a wider range of materials, and present them to researchers in more interesting and diverse ways.
