21세기 현대무용 작품에 나타난 다원 예술의 성향 = A Tendency of Interdisciplinary Arts in the 21st-Century Modern Dance

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 항상 변화와 창조를 추구해야 하는 특성을 지닌 현대무용과 최근 부각된 공연 예술인 다원예술과의 관계를 연관지어, 현대무용의 다원예술로서의 가치를 탐색하여 현대무용 작품 창작의 방법적 한계성을 극복하고, 현대무용 작품의 다양화와 대중의 인식 개선에 도움이 되는 것에 목적을 두었다. 본 연구를 하기 위한 이론적 이해로써 다원예술의 개념 및 배경과 현대무용에 나타난 다원주의적 성향을 언급하였고, 작품에서 나타나는 다원예술의 성향을 알아보기 위해 피나 바우쉬(Pina Bausch), 빔 반데케이부스(Wim Vandekeybus), 로이스턴 멜둠(Royston maldoom), 윌리엄 포사이스(William Forsythe)의 각각의 작품「마주르카 포고(Masurca Fogo)」, 「블러쉬(Blush)」, 「베를린 필과 춤을(Rhythm is it!)」, 「흩어진 군중들(Scattered Crowd)」 네 개의 작품에서 작품요인과 다원적 성향을 분석하였다.
이상의 연구에서 현대무용에 나타난 다원예술의 성향을 탐색하여 앞으로의 현대무용 작품 창작에 있어 현대무용의 한계성을 극복하고 다양한 방법론을 고찰해보았다. 21세기의 현대무용 작품들은 보다 확실한 예술적 공감을 일으키기 위해 매스 미디어의 적극적인 활용과 타 장르의 표현수단을 다양하게 융합시키면서 현대무용 표현 영역을 넓히고 있으며, 그 목적과 영역이 광범위해짐에 따라 교육적 가치로서의 예술의 보편화 과정을 제시하는 사례 또한 볼 수 있었다. 이러한 다양한 측면의 접근을 통해 현대무용이 가질 수 있는 새로운 차원의 미적 가치의 창조를 기대 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis is about overcoming limitations of methods in creation of modern dance works and contributing to diversification of modern dance works and improvement of the public awareness. For the purpose, modern dance which should always pursue change and creation was connected with interdisciplinary arts which recently have been highlighted as performing arts and values of modern dance as interdisciplinary arts have been searched. The conception and background of interdisciplinary arts and the pluralistic tendency of modern dance were mentioned as theoretical understanding to conduct this study. To look into the tendency of interdisciplinary arts appearing in artworks, four pieces- 「Masurca Fogo」 by Pina Bausch, 「Blush」 by Wim Vandekeybus, 「Rhythm is it!」 by Royston Maldoom and 「Scattered Crowd」 by William Forsythe- were analyzed for their primary factors of the works and pluralistic tendency.
In the above study, limitations of modern dance were overcome in creation of modern dance works and various methodologies were considered by looking for the tendency of interdisciplinary arts in modern dance. Modern dance works in the 21st century have been broadening the realm of modern dance expression by actively utilizing mass media and combining expressions means of other genres in diverse ways in order to evoke definite artistic sympathy. As purposes and domains of modern dance have been widened, there also have been cases suggesting generalization processes of arts as educational values. This study showed that creation of aesthetic values of new levels which modern dance could have could be expected through approaches from such various aspects.
