The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the recognition of the members of schools that tore down the school fences to propose directing points of the school parks that will continuously form. A survey was conducted targeting students and teachers by referring to the documentary survey and advanced research and by creating the questionnaire. Then the surveys were analyzed and studied by using the spss (ver. 17.0) statistical program.
1. Regarding the behavior of using the school exterior environment, the students who participated in after school activities actively used the exterior school environment and the teachers used less. Students mainly used the playground facilities and the teachers mainly used the environment for strolls and rests.
2. Regarding the fence demolition, 90% of the teachers realized the fact but 81% of the students did not. This shows that recognition of the school park business should be increased for the students who often use the exterior school environment.
3. As a result of analyzing the constructive direction of the fence demolition, 44.7% showed to be the convenience of accessing the school by students and 55% showed to be the increase of natural learning space by the teachers. Thus, the convenience of accessing the school and gaining space for natural learning should be preferential when conducting the school park business but it is considered that the resting area, various plantation, amount of green, exercising area, playground facilities should be considered as well.
4. Both the student and teach groups preferred the exterior environment after the fence demolition and the overall satisfactory level showed to be high by student, teacher, school groups. This proves that the fence demolition, which is one of the school park businesses, positively influences the exterior school environment.
5. As a result of comparing and analyzing the current wood state and wood preference by schools, wood that cognizes broad leaf trees, deciduous trees, fruit trees and flowers were commonly preferred which showed that the fruit trees and fragrant plants with the greatest difference needs to be supplemented urgently.
6. By conducting the multi-regression analysis on the factors that influence the overall satisfaction level of the exterior environment, the results showed that the overall satisfaction level was influenced by factors in the order of noise, natural learning space, scenery, shade, amount of wood, playground and exercise environment.
7. As a result of analyzing the satisfaction factors of the exterior environment, the results showed a high satisfaction level by factors in the order of the convenience of school access, increasement of shade, woods, scenery improvement, increase of natural learning space, increase of seats, convenience of hiking paths, natural experience through seasonal sense, appearance of micro-ecosystem, reduction of noise, improvement of playground environment, trash reduction, various types of woods, increase of exercising facilities. With the flow function increase due to the demolition of the fence, and the increase in the number of woods due to the expansion of the available space, the effects of shade increase, scenery improvement, seasonal sense, appearance of the micro-ecosystem and reduction of noise showed. Furthermore, the increase in the natural learning space and the number of seats, convenience of the hiking trails, improvement of the playground environment, reduction of trash showed due to the reorganization of the natural learning area and the hiking course and the increase of various facilities. However, the increase of the exercising facilities and the types of woods showed to be less than average value of 3 points. It is considered that the satisfaction level was low due to the slight increase of the exercising facilities, and the limited types of the woods.
Overall, the fence demolition which is one of the school park businesses showed to influence the exterior school environment in an appropriate way and the overall satisfaction level of the exterior environment was quite high. The satisfaction level of the exterior environment after the fence demolition showed to be higher than before the demolition. However, students who mainly use the exterior environment should be guided better to recognize the importance of the fence demolition in order to create a fair exterior environment and schools that will carry out the fence demolition in the future should induce the participation of their students to create an exterior environment that does not focus on woods and plants that are only good for the scenery but various woods and plants that suit the school's educational curriculum, evenly satisfying all factors.
It is difficult to practically improve all exterior environmental factors but if supplementation is conducted continuously in three periods through the school park business, students of the future will not only study with books within the classrooms but will be able to participate in hands-on-activities out in the nature and a healthy school environment will be created where students are able to run freely in the sufficient green area.
