장소기반교육(PBE)의 사회과교육적 의의 및 효과 탐색 = An Exploration on the Significance and the Effect of Place-Based Education(PBE) in Social Studies Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to examine theory and cases of ‘Place-Based Education (PBE)`, thus to explore significance and effect of PBE in social studies education. For that, this study, based on understanding of meaning and features of PBE, extracted social studies educational significance of PBE. First, it could establish sound identity based on understanding of place and place attachment. Second, it could enhance key competencies of social studies education including citizenship that are required for democratic citizen. Third, it could activate civic engagement that contributes to improvements of local community. Fourth, it could contribute to raise global citizen rooted in local who is able to live an independent living in an era in which globalization and localization coexist. These social studies educational significances of PBE were used to analyze educational effects of real cases. By analyzing educational effects of real cases, this study made sure the significance of PBE with cases and argued that PBE is effective in social studies education.
