복수 표지 ‘들’의 문법적 지위 고찰 = The Consideration on Grammatical Status of the Plural Marker ‘들’

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this article is to set the grammatical status of ‘들’ by examining the semantic function and syntactic structure of the plural marker ‘들’. Judging by the semantic function of the plural marker ‘들’ the discussion should be proceeded in the order to identify which category it belongs to, but the grammatical status was chosen in preference to semantics. The plural marker ‘들’ means plural whether it is the plural of the subject or the plural of anything else. The plural marker ‘들’ is categorized into three status: a dependent-noun, a suffix, and an auxiliary. The purpose of this article was examined whether they satisfy each characteristic because of the consideration on grammatical status of the plural marker ‘들’. Focusing on the possibility of modifiers of tubular words, first of all, the problem of a dependent-noun theory was identified. Next, it was confirmed that there was a problem in considering the plural marker ‘들’ as suffixes by examining the combination of the plural marker ‘들’, productivity, non-separability, omission, a syntactic derivative suffix theory. Lastly this study also examined the criteria from a dependent-noun theory and a suffix theory as well as its meaning, function of the case marking realization and the views to consider as a syntactic derivative suffix. Based on this I concluded that it was more appropriate to consider the plural marker ‘들’ as an auxiliary rather than to set it as a dependent noun or a suffix.
