This thesis, on the object of special child teachers, looked into the importance of performance capabilities and the difference in performance levels and also looked into the difference in groups, according to age, organizations, qualifications, careers, and academic histories which were fixed as teachers’ general background variables. So this thesis investigated 29 special child school teachers, 39 kindergarten course teachers of special schools, 53 special child class teachers, 43 united kindergarten teachers in charge of disable children, 12 welfare hall teachers, total 187 teachers in our country. As for a tool, this thesis used adapted English questionnaires, 10 areas 103 items, on the basis of CEC knowledge and technology.
As a result, first, as for special child teachers’ importance recognition levels of achievement capabilities according to teacher variables, those who were more than 40 years old according to age, those who worked at special child schools according to organizations, those who had special child teacher grade 1 according to qualifications, those who had more than 3years~less than 6years’ career according to careers, and those who graduated from graduate schools according to academic histories had higher recognition of importance in order.
Second, as for performance recognition level according to teacher variables, those who were more than 40 years old according to age, those who worked at special child schools according to work organizations, those who had special school teacher grade1 according to qualification, and those who graduated from graduate schools according to academic career had higher performance levels, as were recognition levels. As a result, it suggests that the higher the age, careers, and qualifications were, the higher their performances were.
Third, teachers had a lot of differences in importance levels and performance levels. Especially, they had the most differences in importance levels and performance levels for instruction strategies. They thought learners’ development and traits to be important, but they didn’t perform them than any other areas. They didn’t have difference in importance and performance at the areas of learning circumstances and social interactions than other areas. As a result, it was found out that they recognized that performance capabilities were important, but that they didn’t perform duties so much as their recognition due to various conditions, environments, and actual restrictions.
In addition, this thesis leaded to the suggestion that evaluation papers had to be developed so that teachers, parents, and children could evaluate special child teachers in fields together. In addition this thesis leaded to the suggestion that special child teachers had to make efforts to lessen differences in importance levels and performance levels of duty performance capabilities and to lay the same emphasis on importance levels and performance levels.
