I studied the cognition and realities of postpartum care with questionnaire from December 2005 to April 2006 to analyze the cognition and realities of postpartum care and to aid the spread of oriental medicine in postpartum care and to get a basic guideline of postpartum care home and O.M.D.'s role model of postpartum care.
4 groups, they are 54 puerperants in postpartum care home at Gangdong-gu or Songpa-gu, 36 workers with postpartum care at Gangdong-gu or Songpa-gu, 92 maiden girls and 49 O.M.D. in Gangdong-gu answered me. So I could analyzed collected data by using statistics analysis program, SPSS.
The result of this study was as follows;
1. Almost of 4 group felt sympathy for importance of postpartum care.
2. Essential factors to choice a postpartum care home were sanitary condition and professionalism at taking care of infant and puerperant.
3. Puerperants pay postpartum care for without regard to economic state.
4. 60.4% of puerperants in postpartum care home wanted segregation of infant and puerperant. The reason is for taking rest and lack of confidence at taking care infant.
5. 5.9% of workers with postpartum care had maternity nurse licence, 67.6% of them had nurse licencea and 26.5% of them had nurse´s aide qualification. 97.1% of them had experience at medical institution.
6. It is hard to open postpartum care home by O.M.D. independently. Beacause only 13.4% of puerperants need postpartum care home is operated by O.M.D.
7. 69.2% of puerperants Would like to taking Herb-medition for postpartum care. Puerperants has well-expectation in postpartum care by oriental medicine. There is much room for extension of oriental medical province in postpartum care.
