유학생 대상 한국어 스토리텔링 기반 수업 사례 연구 = Korean Storytelling-based Classes for Foreign Students

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The aim of this paper is to investigate the educational utility of storytelling by implementing storytelling methods in a class designed for foreign students and examining their outcomes. In order to establish such a class, certain steps were required. First, students needed to understand the basic concepts from textbooks selected by an educator.
Accordingly, the stories were compiled through analyzing ‘story grammar’. Results indicated that students in the beginner level had problems with composition structures. However, students in both beginner and intermediate levels were able to share opinions regarding topics on the coexistence of human and nature, ultimately suggesting solutions for specific problems. In the advanced level, in general, students competently completed tasks concerning sustainable coexistence. Their overall performances were not only persuasive but also creative.
This suggests that students actively participate in activities by offering their experiences and knowledge to solve designated problems. Applying general education methods enabled foreign students who were not yet fully accustomed to communicating in Korean to share opinions and extend cogitation.
