The number of North Korean defectors has increased since the mid-1990s, with more than 20,000 now living in South Korea. The number of North Korean defector families has also increased since the 2000s. This has led to active research of the situation. Earlier studies found that reunited North Korean defector families had resettled in South Korea in greater numbers than defectors who joined other family members who had arrived earlier. It is difficult to know the exact number of North Korean defector families in South Korea due to the lack of statistics on them. However, it can be assumed that the number of reunited North Korean defector families would increase consistently with the support from family members who are already in South Korea. Due to the rapid growth in the number of North Korean defectors families living in South Korea, strategic support plans and services for them have been discussed. However, supportive services for reunited North Korean defector families are rare. Therefore, supportive strategies for reunited North Korean defector families are reviewed here to help them adapt to South Korea, with a focus on resilience. The areas of support include believe systems, organizational patterns, and communication problem solving. With a resilience perspective, North Korean defector families accepted ``resettlement in South Korea`` as a selective challenge and reunited with family members from North Korea or China. The family members adjust to the new structure and roles of the family after reunification and to a different culture. They also grow together as a family with a positive perspective as well as trust and hope while they resolve their conflicts and difficulties together. If supportive strategies based on resilience for reunited North Korean defector families were implemented, these families would strengthen their resilience and improve their family relationship and resettlement experience in South Korea.
