비정규직 노동조합 조직화와 친밀감의 정치: 금속노조 3개 사내하청지회 조직화 사례 연구 = Unionization of Non-regular Workers and Politics of Intimacy: A Case Study of Three Subcontractors Branches of Korean Metal Workers Union

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examines how the non-regular workers can unionize and what factors affect the survival of their unions by analyzing three subcontractors branches cases of the Korean Metal Workers Union. As a result, in the stage of organizing, the existence of activists with experiences and competences, formation of beginning agents who are like-minded with the activist, individuals’ grievances, and the internal and external political opportunity-threat structure of workplace were having a significant impact. And in the strife-bargaining stage, it was confirmed that the solidarity of regular workers’ union, strategies of non-regular workers’ union to mobilize the regular workers’ solidarity, the way and degree of employers’ suppression, and the positional power of non-regular workers in the workplace were key factors. But the point to emphasize above all is that the politics of intimacy works throughout the non-regular workers’ unionization and struggles. A series of political process and micromobilization, which various actors within the workplace coordinate their interests and behavior with regard to the non-regular workers’ unionization, was influenced by the non-economic and social psychological factors such as a sense of closeness, emotional bond, humane trust relationships. This result suggests that the non-regular workers’ unions and activists need to take a mobilization of emotions into consideration for successful unionization.
