Though the green dietary life education has introduced worldwide in a variety of fields and the current dietary life education exercise has processed, the green dietary life education in Korean school was still insufficiently running and the students of awareness was also low. In this study, in order to obtain basic data required to the effective implementation of green dietary life education, the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors on the green dietary life were investigated.
The empirical results of this study can be summarized as follows.
1. Looking for the perception of the green dietary life, 'have never heard of' and 'have ever heard but I do not know well' was respectively 47.2% and 36.6%, that was higher than 'a little known' and 'well aware' (respectively 12.6%, 3.7%) but in general, the perception of the green dietary life appeared low. The ways of the perception were school 57%, home 21%, other 14%, and institutes 8% in order.
2. The average of middle school students' correct answers rate on the knowledge of the green dietary life was 56.95 point, the environmental average of the green dietary life was 52.03 points, the health average of the green dietary life was 61.38 points. The correct answer rate of the green dietary life was appeared higher than the environmental correct answer rate. The male students who were more than female students for school grade 'high' group were higher correct answers on environment knowledge than 'mid','low' group and family afford 'high' were higher than 'mid', 'low'. Meanwhile, the health knowledge of the correct answers compared to male students, 2 and 3 grade were higher than those in 1 grade.
3. The total average of the green dietary life attitudes was 3.86 point, green dietary life environment average was 3.84 points, the green dietary life healthy average was 3.94 points, the consideration average score of the green dietary life was 3.79 points. It was the health, the environment, the consideration in order. In the score of environmental area, the female students compared to the male students, the grade 1 or 2 than the grade 3 was also higher allowance for less than 30,000 won. Overall health of the region compared to female students, and monthly allowance of less than 30,000 won was more higher than that 60,000 won.
4. The total average of the green dietary life behavior was 3.22 points and the environmental average of the green dietary life was 3.23 point, the health average of the green dietary life was 3.33 points, the consideration average of the green dietary life was 3.02 points and in the green dietary life behavior score, the health was the highest, and then the environment, and the consideration were appeared in order. The environmental area was higher for the mother who was educated more than college graduated level than who was educated less than high school graduated level, and the students who answered that they knew well green dietary life had higher score on the green dietary life behavior in comparison the students who answered 'never heard', 'have ever herd but not familiar'. In the health area, the students who were low family situation had higher score than the students who were 'mid' family situation. The health behavior score of green dietary life was higher for the students who answered 'know well' than those who answered 'never heard', 'had ever heard but not familiar'. In consideration area, the students who had 'high' score were higher than 'mid' score, and the students who were 'high' family situation had higher score than 'mid' family situation. In addition, the consideration behavior score of green dietary life was higher for the students who answered 'knew well' than those who 'never heard'.
5. Green dietary education needs were the way to maintain a normal weight, 3.78 points, separate waste collection methods 3.40 points, how to prevent pollution, Korea's traditional food, health food and diet were to each of 3.37 points, table manners 3.34 points, garden vegetable cultivation method 3.18 points, the relevant certification mark of the kind of eco-friendly 3.09 points, experience rural village 3.06 points in order. Green dietary for education needs showed in the mother's education a significant difference if the mother's education was more than the college, garden vegetable cultivation method needs were higher than those of the high school education or less.
Through above research results, we would like to suggest the following.
First, in this study the perception of middle school students about the green dietary life was lower but the average education needs of green dietary life showed more than middle and the average needs students seeking education about green dietary life a request was larger. Thus, home and at school, middle school students to practice green dietary life to meet the educational needs of the curriculum was needed to develop.
Second, in the knowledge of the green dietary life, such as 'water mill mark is a mark to show eco-friendly food', 'the eco-friendly agricultural products were grown without using any pesticides', the eco-friendly foods and eco-friendly agriculture foods score were significantly lower than the average score. Thus, for middle school students, the education about eco-friendly food and eco-friendly agriculture foods seemed to require specific training.
Third, the average score of green dietary life attitudes was 3.86 points, on the other hand, the average score of green dietary life behavior was 3.22 points so that the green dietary life in their attitudes and behavior can be seen that there were a difference. Thus, through practical green dietary life education, the attitude should be lead to behavior.
Fourth, in this study, the students who had high perception on the green dietary life displayed higher dietary behavior score, but a large number of students did not know about green dietary life so that in the future, through the green dietary life education, it was needed to raise their perception.
Fifth, when looking at the score of green dietary life attitudes and behaviors, the score for the environment and consideration was lower than the health care score and in the future, the green eating education was expected to be further enhanced the education for the environment and care.
Sixth, this study will have to be extended to not only the middle school students as well as the elementary‧high school students to perform the desired green dietary life and a wider range of research should be perform, in the future research.
