사목적 제언을 위한 신종교 운동 에스 탈퇴자들의 탈퇴 후 경험과 회복 과정에 대한 근거 이론 연구 = A Grounded Theory Study on the Experience and Recovery Process of those who left a New Religious Movements S after Exiting for Pastoral Advice

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to make pastoral suggestions for the recovery of those who have left the New Religious Movements S, which is currently achieving the most remarkable success among New Religious Movements. To this end, this study reviewed prior studies and found that most prior studies were based on ‘the brainwashing theory’. This study critically examines ‘the brainwashing theory’ and proposes ‘religious delusion’ as an alternative point of view. The analysis framework of Strauss-Corbin’s grounded theory is used as a research method because this study aims to create grounding data for specific pastoral care. A total of 176 concepts, 48 subcategories and 15 categories were discovered as a result of data collection and analysis based on 1:1 in-depth interviews with 9 participants who voluntarily expressed their intention to participate in the study. Among the 15 categories, the Central Phenomena appeared as ‘total destruction of life’ and ‘after effects from religious delusion’, and I discovered that there was a ‘regression type’, ‘agony type’, ‘reality-adaptive type’ and a ‘transcendent type’ in the type of ‘building a new sublimated daily life on the ashes’. In conclusion, this study states that case conceptualizations of individuals based on ‘religious delusion’ is appropriate rather than ‘brainwashing theory’ or ‘religious addiction theory’ in the Church’s pastoral care for their journey toward restoration and unity of relationships with themselves, their families, their neighbors and God. And based on this, this study remarks that She needs to give help in terms of religious, relational and social readjustment along with the family, an important support group. Furthermore, This study requests that the Catholic Church should endeavor to prevent damage to the sheep who needs her pastoral care through research on new religious movements, and by it, she needs to have a time of self-reflection on her pastoral deficiencies. As limitations of this study, it was said that it is challenging to apply the results of this study to those who have left new religious movements for various reasons other than the help of their families, especially the second generation, and that it is necessary to have more studies on those who have left other new religious movements. Nevertheless, this essay could be used as a basic source for a practical theology as well as a pastoral service.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고의 목적은 현재 신종교 운동 중 가장 큰 성공을 거두고 있는 ‘에스’에서 탈퇴한 탈퇴자들의 회복을 위한 사목적 제언을 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 사전 연구 검토를 하였는데, 대다수의 사전 연구들이 ‘세뇌 이론’을 바탕으로 하고 있음을 알게 되었다. 본 연구는 ‘세뇌 이론’에 대한 비판적 검토를 통하여 대안적인 관점으로 ‘종교적 망상’을 제안하였다. 연구 방법으로 스트라우스-코빈의 근거 이론의 분석틀을 사용하였는데, 이것은 본고의 목적이 구체적인 사목 돌봄을 위한 근거 자료를 만들기 위함이기 때문이다. 자발적 참여 의사를 밝힌 연구 참여자 9명의 1:1 심층 인터뷰 내용을 토대로 자료를 수집·분석한 결과 총 176개의 개념과 48개의 하위 범주, 그리고 15개의 범주를 발견하였다. 15개의 범주 중 중심 현상은 ‘삶의 총체적 파괴’와 ‘종교적 망상으로 인한 후유증’으로 나타났는데, ‘잿더미 위에서 승화된 새로운 일상을 건설해 나가기’ 유형에 있어서 ‘퇴보형’, ‘고뇌형’, ‘현실적응형’, ‘초월형’이 있음을 발견하였다. 본고는 결론에서 이들이 자기 자신과 가족 그리고 이웃과 하느님과의 관계 회복과 일치로 나아가는 여정을 교회가 사목적으로 돌보는 것에 있어서, ‘세뇌 이론’이나 ‘종교 중독 이론’이 아닌 ‘종교적 망상’을 바탕으로 한 개인들에 대한 사례 개념화가 적절하다고 주장하였다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 중요 지지 집단인 가족과 함께 신앙적, 관계적, 사회 재적응적인 측면에서 도움을 주어야 함을 말하였다. 나아가 가톨릭 교회는 신종교 운동에 대한 연구를 통해 사목적 돌봄을 필요로 하는 양들이 피해를 입지 않도록 노력하는 동시에, 이것을 통해 자신의 사목적 부족함을 반성해 보는 성찰의 시간을 가져야 한다고 요청하였다. 본고의 한계로서 가족들의 도움이 아닌 다양한 이유로 탈퇴한 이들, 특히 2세대들에게는 본 연구의 결과를 적용하기 어렵다는 점과 다른 신종교 운동 탈퇴자들에 대한 연구가 필요하다는 점을 제시하였다. 그럼에도 본고는 사목뿐 아니라 실천적 신학을 위한 기초 자료로 사용될 수 있을 것이다.
