The effect of a double layered adsorber for the recovery of gasoline from the contaminated air emitted on gasoline storage tank and distribution facilities is investigated. Two different adsorbents, silica gel and activated carbon, are employed. A pilot unit consisting of an adsorptivc buffer for the collection of contaminated air sporadically emitted and a PSA system was installed and tested. Contaminated air was fed to the adsorption hurler for a period of time, and subsequently the enriched hydrocarbon stream obtained during the regeneration of the adsorptive buffer was treated by the PSA system. Regeneration of the adsorbent was done by flowing air under vacuum. Approximately 15 -25 liter of recovered gasoline per hour was recovered with the pilot scale PSA unit filled with 540 kg of adsorbent in total, and clean air containing light hydrocarbon less than 100 ppmv was emitted to the atmosphere.

The reaction of dipyrrylmethane with an equimolar mixture of ferrocenecarboxaldehyde and benzaldehyde in dry acetonitrile in the presence of a catalytic amount of trichloroacetic acid leads to the formation of 5-ferrocenyl-15-phenyl-2,8,12,18-tetraethyl-3,7,13,17-tetramethylporphyrin (1) with a yield of 27%. The metallation of 1 with Zn(OAc)2·2H2O and MnCl2·4H2O gives Zn·1 and MnCl·1, respectively. Cyclic voltammograms of 1, Zn·1 and MnCl·1 show reversible one-electron oxidation processes for the oxidation of ferrocene at 0.29, 0.22, and 0.37 V, respectively. Variable temperature 1H NMR spectra of 1 in toluene-d8 show two distinct singlets of equal intensities and line widths for NH protons. From the plot of ln(k/T) versus 1/T according to the Eyring equation, gave straight line with Δ□=51 kJ mol-1. ⓒ 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved. The lightweight aggregate was artificially pelletized, with use of fly ash, obtained from coal power plant, and waste glass wool as a flux, by sintering process in electrical muffle furnace. Those were fired at 1,000℃ and 1,100℃ for 3 and 6 minutes respectively. IDT(Initial Deformation Temperature) of fly ash, was appeared 1,360℃, but fly ash, when mixed with 50wt% of waste glass wool and 5wt% borax as fluxes, came into 1,156℃. Absorption ratios of sintered pellets for 24hrs had the lower values in the range of 4.3 to 6.3% than 16.8% of ILA(imported lightweight aggregate). Increasing of sintering temperature and time, absolute dry specific gravity of sintered pellet tended upward. Absolute dry specific gravity of pellet sintered at 1,000℃ for 3 minutes was 1.36 and this value was similar to that of ILA. SEM showed that the fractured surface of pellet, sintered at 1,000℃, had more fused phases in outer region rather than inner. It was shown, however, that the pellet, sintered at total pore surface was increased because large pores transfer into small pores by increasing sintering temperature.
