        Elastic-plastic-creep response of multilayered systems under cyclic thermo-mechanical loadings

        The modified Ohno and Abdel-Karim nonlinear kinematic hardening model considering cyclic hardening and creep effect are developed to investigate the deformation and residual stress of multilayered systems subjected to cyclic thermal and mechanical loads. Results reveal that, if the creep behavior is considered, significant stress relaxation takes place during about the first several cycles, and the accumulated strain of multilayered systems under deformation-controlled loads finally remains constant, which leads to shakedown. Remarkable changes of the residual stress, location of neutral axis and curvature of Si-Cu beams are observed during about the first 100 cycles. Therefore, the proposed model can be used for the engineering design of multilayered systems under complex loads.

        Impact of co-firing lean coal on NOx emission of a large-scale pulverized coal-fired utility boiler during partial load operation

        The present work aimed at combustion optimization of a 1,000MW tower-type ultra-supercritical boiler co-firing a lean coal with bituminous coals for reducing NOX emission particularly at low load operations. Historic operation data were systematically analyzed to investigate the characteristics of NOX emission. Through comparing between lean coal co-firing and sole bituminous coal firing, it was confirmed that, besides the big difference in quality and combustion characteristics of the lean coal from the bituminous coals, the excess air ratio in main combustion zone had a significant effect on NOX emission. Keeping the ratio at properly lower level achieved lower NOX emissions at low load operations. Based on the analyses, in-situ tests successfully brought NOX emissions of co-firing down close to 300mg/m3 at the load of 700MW, demonstrating the effectiveness of combustion optimization for controlling NOX emissions at partial load operation of co-firing.

        Review on sodium corrosion evolution of nuclear-grade 316 stainless steel for sodium-cooled fast reactor applications

        Sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) is the preferred technology of the generation-IV fast neutron reactor, and its core body mainly uses nuclear-grade 316 stainless steel. In order to prolong the design life of SFRs to 60 years and more, it is necessary to summarize and analyze the anti-corrosion effect of nuclear grade 316 stainless steel in high temperature sodium environment. The research on sodium corrosion of nuclear grade 316 stainless steel is mainly composed of several important factors, including the microstructure of stainless steel (ferrite layer, degradation layer, etc.), the trace chemical elements of stainless steel (Cr, Ni and Mo, etc) and liquid impurity elements in sodium (O, C and N, etc), carburization and mechanical properties of stainless steel, etc. Through summarizing and constructing the sodium corrosion rate equations of nuclear grade 316 stainless steel, the stainless steel loss of thickness can be predicted. By analyzing the effects of temperature, oxygen content in sodium and velocity of sodium on corrosion rate, the basis for establishing integrity evaluation standard of SFR core components with sodium corrosion is provided.
