Design of an Haptic Tactile Interface (HTI) with Friction Coefficient Measurements
Winter, Christophe,Perriard, Yves Journal of International Conference on Electrical 2013 Journal of international Conference on Electrical Vol.2 No.4
An haptic tactile interface (HTI) is presented with its modeling. Its design is dedicated to perform friction coefficient measurement to characterize reachable feelings with that kind of interface. Friction measurements are presented and discussed.
Modelling and Optimal Design of a Ring-type Structure for the Generation of a Traveling Wave
Liu, Xinchang,Civet, Yoan,Perriard, Yves Journal of International Conference on Electrical 2014 Journal of international Conference on Electrical Vol.3 No.1
Traveling wave generation in a ring type stator has been studied. The basic working principle to create traveling wave has been modelled by the superposition of two orthogonal standing waves. Theoretical analysis shows that the length to radius ratio affects the frequency gap between two pseudo orthogonal modes used to create traveling wave. FEM simulation is then discussed and applied to validate the analytical model. At last, a possible optimal solution is reported with FEM verification.
Robust and Efficient 3D Model of an Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) Sensor
Antoun, Chafic Abu,Perriard, Yves Journal of International Conference on Electrical 2014 Journal of international Conference on Electrical Vol.3 No.3
Eddy current induction is used in a wide range of electronic devices, for example in detection sensors. Due to the advances in computer hardware and software, the need for 3D computation and system comprehension is a requirement to develop and optimize such devices nowadays. Pure theoretical models are mostly limited to special cases. On the other hand, the classical use of commercial Finite Element (FE) electromagnetic 3D models is not computationally efficient and lacks modeling flexibility or robustness. The proposed approach focuses on: (1) implementing theoretical formulations in 3D (FE) model of a detection device as well as (2) an automatic Volumetric Estimation Method (VEM) developed to selectively model the target finite elements. Due to these two approaches, this model is suitable for parametric studies and optimization of the number, location, shape, and size of PCB receivers in order to get the desired target discrimination information preserving high accuracy with tenfold reduction in computation time compared to commercial FE software.
Study of Various Winding Topologies for Self-Shielding Induction Cookers
Auvigne, Christophe,Copt, Florian,Winter, Christophe,Perriard, Yves Journal of International Conference on Electrical 2013 Journal of international Conference on Electrical Vol.2 No.4
In this paper, the magnetic coupling between an induction cooker and a metallic pot is studied for various winding topologies. Effects of the winding orientation on the power transfer capability and on the emitted magnetic field under the cooker are discussed and compared. A novel topology inspired by permanent magnet Halbach array is proposed. This consists in coupling in both horizontal and vertical directions and to create an asymmetric field in order to reduce the emission under the cooker.
Optimisation of an inductive power transfer structure
Besuchet, Romain,Auvigne, Christophe,Shi, Dan,Winter, Christophe,Civet, Yoan,Perriard, Yves Journal of International Conference on Electrical 2013 Journal of international Conference on Electrical Vol.2 No.3
This paper presents the multi-objective optimisation of an Inductive Coupled Power Transfer (ICPT) device. A setup as complicated as the one at hand in this paper is extremely hard to model analytically. To acquire some knowledge about the influence of the geometric factors, a sensitivity analysis is first performed using design of experiment (DoE) and finite-element modelling (FEM). It allows validating that the choice of the free factors is relevant. This being done, the optimisation itself is performed using a genetic algorithm (GA), with two objectives and a strict functioning constraint.
