      • Facilitator Psychological Constructs for Mammography Screening among Iranian Women

Taymoori, Parvaneh,Moshki, Mahdi,Roshani, Daem Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.17

Background: While many researchers often use a theoretical framework for mammogram repeat interventions, it seems they do not apply an identified mediation analysis method. The aim of this study was to determine the mediators of mammogram replication behavior in two tailored interventions for non-adherent Iranian women. Materials and Methods: A sample population of 184 women over 50 years old in Sanandaj, Iran, was selected for an experiment. Participants were randomly allocated into one of the three conditions: 1) an intervention based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) 2) an intervention based on an integration of the HBM and selected constructs from the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), and 3) a control group. Constructs were measured before the intervention, and after a 6-month follow-up. Results: Perceived self-efficacy, behavioral control, and subjective norms were recognized as mediators in the HBM and selected constructs from the TPB intervention. Perceived susceptibility, severity, barriers, self-efficacy and behavioral control met the criteria for mediation in the HBM intervention. Conclusions: This study was successful in establishing mediation in a sample of women. Our findings enrich the literature on mammography repeat, indicating key intervention factors, and relegating redundant ones in the Iranian populations. The use of strategies to increase mammography repeat, such HBM and TPB constructs is suggested to be important for maintaining a screening behavior, once the behavior has been adopted.

Application of artificial neural network for vapor liquid equilibrium calculation of ternary system including ionic liquid: Water, ethanol and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate

        Alireza Fazlali,Parvaneh Koranian,Reza Beigzadeh,Masoud Rahimi 한국화학공학회 2013 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.30 No.9

A feed forward three-layer artificial neural network (ANN) model was developed for VLE prediction of ternary systems including ionic liquid (IL) (water+ethanol+1-butyl-3- methyl-imidazolium acetate), in a relatively wide range of IL mass fractions up to 0.8, with the mole fractions of ethanol on IL-free basis fixed separately at 0.1,0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 0.98. The output results of the ANN were the mole fraction of ethanol in vapor phase and the equilibrium temperature. The validity of the model was evaluated through a test data set, which were not employed in the training case of the network. The performance of the ANN model for estimating the mole fraction and temperature in the ternary system including IL was compared with the non-random-two-liquid (NRTL) and electrolyte non-randomtwo-liquid (eNRTL) models. The results of this comparison show that the ANN model has a superior performance in predicting the VLE of ternary systems including ionic liquid.

      • Deregulation of MTDH Gene Expression in Gastric Cancer

Baygi, Modjtaba Emadi,Nikpour, Parvaneh Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.6

Aim: Gastric cancer is the third most frequent cause of cancer mortality worldwide. In Iran, it is one of the leading causes at the national level. Localized at chromosome 8q22, the human MTDH gene has been reported to be over-expressed in a spectrum of malignancies. However, since there is a lack of data concerning with expression in gastric cancer at the transcriptional level, in this study we evaluated MTDH expression in Iranian cases. Methods: Totally, thirty paired gastric samples were examined by quantitative real-time RT-PCR. Results: Although the mRNA expression was significantly elevated in 46.6% of the examined tumor tissues; its expression was low in others (36.6%). Moreover, there was only a marginal statistical difference between the MTDH gene expression of all tumor specimens compared to their paired non-tumor ones and no statistically significant association with the grades and types of the tumors. Conclusion: Taken together, our results demonstrated that expression of MTDH at the transcriptional level may be increased in gastric cancer tissue samples but with considerable heterogeneity. Due to this, it may have the potential to be used as a target for diagnostic/therapeutic purposes only in a subset of patients.

Natural potato or carbon nanorods, spheres, spiral and nanoparticle structures

Masoud Salavati-Niasari,Parvaneh Ghaderi Sheikhiabadi 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.5

The effect of hydrothermal treatments on the properties of the natural potato was investigated. The natural potato was chosen here because it is not only used for food, but also for other, nonfood purposes. The obtained carbon nano and microstructures with different morphologies and size were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, EDX, SEM and TEM. The effects of reaction parameters, such as temperature and reaction time on the morphology and particle size of products were investigated. To the best of our knowledge, there is no report on the fabrication of carbon nanostructures with natural potato.

In Situ Reactive Compatibilization of PP/ABS Blends via Friedel-Crafts Alkylation Reaction

Mir Karim Razavi Aghjeh,Parvaneh Eskandari,Majid Mehrabi Mazidi 한국고분자학회 2016 Macromolecular Research Vol.24 No.1

Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction was employed to reactively compatibilize the polypropylene (PP)/acrylonitrile- butadiene-styrene (ABS) blends, using AlCl3 as a catalyst. Rheology, morphology and mechanical properties of the reactive compatibilized blends along with the reference un-compatibilized samples were studied. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations showed that blends containing catalyst exhibited an improvement in the dispersion state of ABS rubber particles. The results of mechanical tests revealed that reactive compatibilization partly increased the ultimate strength and Izod impact strength of the blends with a loss in tensile ductility. The change in these properties was explained in terms of different chemical reactions including grafting and degradation. Occurrence of these reactions was confirmed using different viscoelastic properties of the compatibilized blend samples. A great improvement in ultimate strength and impact toughness to levels much higher than those of neat PP was achieved in reactively compatibilized PP/ABS blends containing PP-g-MA. These findings were justified by morphological and rheological analyses. The formation of graft copolymer was also confirmed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) measurements. The results of impact toughness data were in agreement with the interfacial tension values measured via contact angle analysis. The deformation behavior of the different compatibilized samples was rationalized via fractographic study of the impact-fractured surfaces.

THE LOWER AUTOCENTRAL SERIES OF ABELIAN GROUPS

Moghaddam, Mohammad Reza R.,Parvaneh, Foroud,Naghshineh, Mohammad Korean Mathematical Society 2011 대한수학회보 Vol.48 No.1

In the present paper we introduce the lower autocentral series of autocommutator subgroups of a given group. Following our previous work on the subject in 2009, it is shown that every finite abelian group is isomorphic with $n^{th}$-term of the lower autocentral series of some finite abelian group.
