This study aims to Cold-ironing applied to new building ships of ocean going area from now. Cold-ironing, know as Alternative Marine Power (AMP) is basically the concept of plugging merchant & passenger ships into shore based power while in port. container ships, passenger ships and reefer ships are the best candidates for it. In California state, with the use of port cold-ironing, the goal is to reduce emission of exhaust gas using it to be 80 percent by 2020. It will be achieved that not only reducing air pollution but economical aspect for shipping. Although, this regulation is limited in California state at present, sure that it will be soon expanded into many countries.
해수와 청수환경에서 선박용 원심펌프 임펠러 재료의 캐비테이션 특성

The fresh water and sea water in present ships is used as cooling water for marine engine. Therefore, corrosion damage in seawater system is frequently occurred. In particular, in the impeller of pump, the performance and material span due to the corrosion and cavitation erosion has adverse effects. Most of the pump impellers in vessels are used Cu-Al alloy. Cu-Al alloy which having the excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance is widely used in marine environments. However, despite the excellent characteristics, the periodic replacement parts due to the cavitation damage in seawater is vulnerable to economic viewpoint. In this study, Cu-Al alloy used with impeller for centrifugal pump were conducted various experiments to evaluate its characteristics in seawater and fresh water solutions, As an electrochemical result, the dynamic conditions that exposed to the cavitation environment presented high corrosion current density with collapse of the cavity compared with the static conditions. Cavitation test results, the weightloss and weightloss rate in fresh water are observed more than those of seawater.

상선을 중심으로 선박들은 계속해서 대형화로 변화하고 있고, 전 세계 대형조선소와 우리나라의 대형 조선소들에서도 초대형 선박 및 해양플랜트의 건조는 계속해서 증가하고 있다. 컨테이너선들은 10,000 TEU 넘어 18,000 TEU 선박이 우리나라에서 건조 중에 있고, 해양플랜트들의 건조와 수주는 계속해서 증가하고 있는 실정이다. 또한, LNG(액화천연가스)선박은 전기추진시스템으로 변화하고 있고, 현재 우리나라 대형조선소에서 건조 중에 있다. 이처럼 선박의 대형화와 전기추진 시스템의 변화는 기존의 저전압 공급방식에서 고전압 공급방식을 채택할 수밖에 없는 실정이다. 그러나 이들 선박을 운 용하는 해기사들은 고전압운용에 대한 지식이 미흡한 실정이고,해양계 학교나 재교육 기관에서도 이에 대한 교육의 기회가 없어,계속해서 증가하는 대형화 선박과 해양플랜트 및 친환경 선박의 운항에 어려움과 취급자의 안전에 문제가 되고 있다. Ships are getting larger and merchant ship is becoming the center spotlight. Furthermore, the number of supersized ships and buildings offshore platforms are rising all around the world, including the large ship building Co. in Korea. Out of all, domestic dock yards are in charge of building 18,000 TEU ships over the 10,000 TEU one. The demand of building offshore plat forms increases gradually as they are always being ordered. Also, The Liquefied natural gas ship changes into the electric propulsion. The manner is adapted by Korean large ship building company now. As mentioned above, The tendency of enlarging ship and change to electric propulsion system contribute to the high voltage way from the low voltage. However, most maritime officers being charge of these ships lack the knowledge about high voltage management. Also, maritime universities and re-education organizations do not provide the knowledge. Therefore, there are many difficulties to deal with large-sized ships, offshore platforms and navigating eco-friendly ships as well as the handler';s safety problems.
