<P>Treatment of methyl mesopyropheophorbide <I>a</I> with formaldehyde under basic conditions gave a novel 13<SUP>2</SUP>-methylene derivative in 85% yield; under acidic conditions, the corresponding 20-hydroxymethyl derivative was obtained in 65% yield. The high reactivity of the enone structural motif existed in the former product provides a unique way to construct some novel chlorophyll <I>a</I> derivatives for various applications. Investigation for trivalent chromium plating technology

The investigation of trivalent chromium plating is carried with sulfate system and DSA anode. The composition of trivalent chromium plating solution is simple, current efficiency is high, electrodeposited rate is about 2μm/ min, temperature range is 15℃~45℃, the thickness of plating coating is about 80μm. The thickness and structure was measured with X ray thickness tester and diffraction instrument.

<P>An <I>o</I>-phenylenevinylene-bridged tetrapyrrolic macrocycle (<B>2</B>) was synthesized by means of a Horner–Wadsworth–Emmons reaction between benzylbisphosphonate and SEM-protected diformylpyrrole, followed by deprotection of the SEM groups. This conformationally flexible tetrapyrrole can be considered as an expanded calix[4]pyrrole analogue, which acts as a receptor for the chloride and bromide anions in THF-<I>d</I><SUB>8</SUB>, but undergoes deprotonation upon exposure to the fluoride anion.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>An expanded analogue of calix[4]pyrrole with a flexible scaffold has been prepared; it acts as an effective anion receptor in organic media. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c4cc00686k'> </P>

In this article, we report the stereoselective Horner?Wadsworth?Emmons reaction of reactive carbonyl-substituted chlorophyll a derivatives with diethyl cyanomethylphosphonate. We found that the formyl or keto group at the chlorin periphery can react stereoselectively with phosphonate carbanions to produce a series of cyanomethylene-substituted chlorins with predominantly E geometry. Considering that no consistent records are available in the literature on the results of the allomerization of methyl pyropheophorbide a, we propose a reliable process for the transformation of this chlorophyll derivative. Our methodology represents a simple and efficient way for the preparation of novel, differently functionalized long-wavelength absorbing chlorins, those can be applied for photodynamic therapy, solar cells, and other relevant purposes.

A novel and efficient intramolecular hydrogen bonding assisted approach to various dihydro[1,3]oxazines is described. Reaction is carried out under ambient condition without any metal catalysts.
