The resistance of connections in steel moment frames is becoming an issue due to increasing interests in progressive collapse from abnormal loadings. As a result, seismic connections with high ductility have been emerging as a candidate for collapse resistance. Among the seismic connections, WCPF or RBS connection developed in the U. S. after Northridge earthquakes is recognized as the first candidate, especially the RBS is known to be highly ductile. However, additional studies are needed to apply the seismic connections for a collapse resisting element. With this background, collapse resisting performance of RBS, WCPF, and WUF-W, which are seismic connections proposed by FEMA/SAC project, is investigated for two types of steel moment frame buildings, one was designed for high-seismic regions, and another was designed for low-seismic regions. For the investigation, vertical displacement at the column removal and plastic hinge rotation at a beam end are checked by using an alternate path method proposed in guidelines. The result showed that the Cover Plate connection behaves better than any other connection in terms of collapse demand, especially in the low-seismic region.
