The purpose of this study is to identify and understand the nature and meaning of the experience with respect to the lives of military wives who form a military community. Based on Giorgi"s empirical phenomenological research methods, the meaning and structure of the community life of military wives were analyzed by analyzing unstructured interviews and data. Studies have shown that the community life of military wives is assimilated to a character similar to the characteristics of military organization. The structure of life forms a stepping stone for the community by utilizing the search for the identity of a soldier"s wife and the matching medium expressed by authoritarian and compassionate modalities. The essential meaning of a military community life is ‘Live as a half-military as a Significant Other.’ This study has significance for the accumulation of feed on community life of military wives in the military community and its performance as basic data.
육군 협약대학 군사학과 군 관련 전문 교수의 선발 과정과 연구 역량에 대한 연구

The purpose of this study is to investigate the process to select military expert professors of army conventional universities and the issues related to their research capabilities and to suggest alternatives for the institutional development. A comparative analysis targeting 10 military conventional universities with common conditions out of 13 was conducted. Data from the army employment support center, the military departments of the conventional universities, National Research Foundation of Korea, and University Information Disclosure Services were analyse. Military expert professors’ qualifications, selection indicators, screening process and results, and their research capabilities before and after they are appointed were compared and analyzed, and mutual relations, and institutional norms and procedures were considered as well. The results of this study are as follows. First, the current screening process, which is conducted only based on the documents, needs to be subdivided into a two-stage process, and external experts should be included in this screening process, too. Second, screening indicators to raise the importance of professors’ job competency should be organized. Third, alternatives to supplement and improve the reliability and effectiveness of the selection were suggested by applying a fair and transparent selection process.
