이 연구는 라캉의 욕망론을 통해 인간의 욕망이 어떻게 형성되고 지속되며, 그것을 통해 어떻게 참된 주체가 될 수 있는가를 탐구하고 이 욕망이 교육이론과 현장에 어떤 관련성을 갖는가를 논의하도록 한다. 라캉에 있어 욕망은 결여의 산물, 즉 결여된 존재로서 인간이 가질 수밖에 없는 본질적인 것이며, 인간을 주체로 탄생시키는 근본적인 힘이다. 인간은 존재의 결여를 극복하기 위해 타자의 욕망을 욕망한다. 그리고 타자의 욕망에 예속된 채, 끊임없이 욕망의 환유(換喩)를 지속한다. 환유 속에 머무는 주체는 타자의 욕망에서 벗어나지 못한 수동적 주체가 된다. 그러나 인간은 끊임없는 노력을 통해 자신을 욕망의 대상이자 원인으로 인식함으로써 자신을 타자의 욕망으로부터 분리시키고 결국에는 참된 욕망의 주체가 된다. 이와 같은 라캉의 욕망론에는 다음과 같은 교육적 함의가 담겨있다. 첫째, 결여를 자신의 것으로 깨닫는 분리 과정을 통해 주체는 진정한 욕망의 주체로 거듭난다는 점에서, 학생은 타자의 욕망으로부터 분리를 실천할 때 진정한 욕망의 주체로 거듭날 수 있다. 둘째, 교사는 배움의 주체로서 학생의 욕망에 대한 인정과 그들이 스스로 욕망의 주체가 되어 ‘배움의 욕망’을 추구할 수 있도록 이끌어줘야 한다. 셋째, 학생의 욕망은 부모와 교사의 (학생 자신에 대한) 욕망을 욕망하는 것에서 벗어날 수 없다. 이때 학생은 부모와 교사로부터 자신의 욕망을 인정받고 싶어 한다. 부모와 교사의 학생욕망 인정은 학생 스스로 진정한 배움의 욕망을 생성하는 계기가 될 뿐만 아니라 학생이라는 인간의 가장 깊은 무의식적 욕망의 세계까지도 존중하는 진정한 휴머니즘을 실현하게 되는 것이다. The purpose of this study is to examine how the desire of human beings is formed and persisted, and how human being becomes the real subject through it, based on Jacques Lacan’s desire. And another purpose of this study is to discuss the relationship between desire and education. According to Lacan, desire is the result of the lack and essential thing that human beings have no choice but to have as lacked being and it(desire) is the fundamental force that created the human being as the subject. Human beings desire with Other’s desire in order to overcome this lack of human being. And human beings continue the metonymy of Other ’s desire holding a captive to Other’s desire. Human beings become passive subject who can’t deviate from Other’s desire. But, after all, human beings separate themselves from Other’s desire and become the subject of real desire. This discussion about Lacan’s desire contains some educational implications as follows. First, students can be born again as the subject of real desire only when they practice separation in that the subject reborn subject of the real desire through separation that the subject realize the lack of their own. Second, Education must recognize the student’s desire and lead students to pursue ‘the desire of learning’ as the subject of learning. Third, students want to get recognition their desires from parents and teachers. When parents and teachers recognize them, students will have real desires for learning. And then students become the subject of learning.
