The Engine Management System(EMS) of an automobile engine is introduced to increase the engine efficiency and to reduce the exhaust emission. This system perceives engine conditions using output of sensors, so it is able to control the fuel injection and ignition timing. Especially, the camshaft position sensor provides the reference signal to detect the top dead center position of the first cylinder in compression stroke using the Hall IC. By means of combining it with a signal of the crankshaft position sensor, it is possible to achieve quick syncronization and precise control of ignition timing. In this paper, programming techniques of the Hall IC are developed by testing the magnetic flux according to the air gap.
