항공기 디스플레이용 LED Backlight의 광대역 Dimming Controller 구현

This paper describes an implementation of a wide-range dimming controller of a LED backlight for Avionics applications such as the control data unit(CDU) and multi-function display(MFD). A feedback controller using a light sensor is proposed to control the brightness in the low dimming range. The proposed controller provides an improved control performance in the wide dimming range of 1:3000 even under the temperature variations. The experimental results are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed control system.

The LCD backlight technique using light-emitting diode(LED) has been studied in the recent backlight market. The white light is need for LCD backlight and it is generally implemented by combining the RGB-LEDs to obtain the high brightness. However, RGB-LEDs have different color characteristics for the current and temperature variations, which results in the color shift problem. The color shift characteristics of RGB-LEDs for the current and temperature variations are investigated in this paper. This result can be used to control the color of backlight system using RGB-LEDs.

A novel lossless current sensing technique for a synchronous buck converter is presented. The inductor DCR method is generally used as a low cost and lossless current sensing technique of DC/DC converters. It is however difficult to obtain the accurate current value for the conventional DCR method because the inductor resistance varies depending on the operating frequency. In order to overcome this problem, an improved current sensing technique is proposed, which has the separated DC and AC sensing circuits. The concept and operation of the proposed method are explained and the experimental results are provided to show its effectiveness.

A lossless inductor current sensing method for power converters with high common mode voltage such as a power factor correction(PFC) circuit is presented. The conventional DCR current sensing method is low cost and simple. However, this can not be used for the converters with high common mode voltage. In order to overcome this problem, an improved method using a voltage divider in proposed. The efficacy of proposed circuit is verified through the simulation and experimental results for the PFC circuit.

The synchronous PI current controller has been widely used for the high performance PM synchronous drives and generally implemented using a digital signal processor. This paper describes the control characteristics of the digital PI current controller for PM synchronous drives. The stability of the current control system considering the sampling time is investigated and the effects of the mismatched decoupling terms in the discrete-time domain are also discussed. The simulation results are provided to verify the theoretic results.

This paper presents a stability analysis for the digital current control system of PM synchronous motor drives with a fast dynamic response. The current control loop is modeled in a discrete-time domain and the closed loop stability of the discrete-time synchronous PI regulator is analyzed considering the sensor time delay. the simulation results are provided to verify the theoretic analysis.
