In this study, large direct shear tests on two types of coarse grained soils were performed to understand the effects of particle size on the shear behavior of coarse grained soils with/without geogrid reinforcements. In the case of coarse grained soil without geogrid, the maximum shear stress increased with an increase in normal stress for medium and large particle size.

In this study, microbial reactions generated by producing calcium carbonate powder, soft ground (sand) was performed to determine the effects of the strength development. To analyze the cementation effects of calcium carbonate produced by microbial reactions in the sand for the four different types(Untreated, calcium carbonate, cement, calcium carbonate + cement) with different weight(2%, 6%) according to the settlement and were tested after curing(3day, 7day, 14day, 21day, 28day). D 5cm X H 10cm molded into specimens for the uniaxial compressive strength was measured, according to the curing period XRD analysis was performed. a result, the weight ratio and curing period increases, calcium carbonate, cement, calcium carbonate + cement specimens showed a tendency to increase strength.
