A magnet and hall effect sensor is adopted for a precision position control to electric actuators of vehicle. The magnet for detecting the rotation angle is positioned on axis of actuator’s lever and is rotating while lever is rotating. The hall sensor of actuator changes from the position data of magnetic flux density to the voltage and transfers a position information to ECU(Engine Control Unit). ECU controls the position of actuator’s lever using the output voltage of hall sensor. Therefore, the linearity error of output voltage should be reduced for the precision position control. The position linearity of actuator depends on the linearity of magnetic flux density because the hall sensor changes from a magnetic flux density to voltage. It is possible to improve the magnetic flux density by changing a magnet shape. In this paper, to improve a position linearity of actuator that has C-type magnet, the linearity of magnetic flux density is discussed according to the thickness, length and sector angle of Ctype magnet, and the validity of this study is verified through the simulation.

An actuator is heated by the motor current which is built. If the motor is overheated above the guaranteed temperature, the motor is damaged and the actuator will perform the Fail-safe function. This paper proposes the control logic in order to prevent overheating to reduce temperature under the position deviation condition. The validity of the proposed method is verified by an experiment.
