Present postmodern and multicultural condition drive us to reflect on introducing religious education into public schools. The purpose of this study was to suggest some urgent reasons for having religious education in public schools and to deduce its roles from those reasons. The result is as following. Religious education is required largely for three reasons. First, it is needed for religious literacy in liberal education. Second, it is required for cultivating mutual respects for civic purpose. And finally, it is required for moral education, giving a supportive framework for moral deliberation. From these, two large roles are deduced: one for liberal education, the other for civic education. For liberal aspect, religious education has to secure students` spiritual growth and to prepare them to face multiculture, and for the civic aspect, it must have students equipped with `reasonable disagreement` required for deliberative democracy.

The purpose of this study was to investigate recent major morality arguments, and to infer some new directions for the present education. To do this, three major figures(MacIntyre, Noddings, and Greene) from recent hot morality arguments were selected and analyzed for their main concepts of morality. The result is as following. The main concepts identified from their major works are 'community' and 'tradition' in case of MacIntyre, 'natural care' and 'ethical idea' in case of Noddings, and 'emotional buttons' and 'dual-process' in case of Greene. And the researcher related these concepts to the ideas for the improvement effort of modernity project. It is suggested that the supplemented ideas of modernity will lead to the education for relatedness, care and empathy, happiness/internal goods, and critical thinking.

This study aimed to figure out the change of images in the concept of self throughout neuroscientific literatures, to analyse related philosophical issues, and to seek some educational implications. The result is as following. With the development of neuroscience, there has been some change in the image of human self. The concept was extended wide enough to include affective and nonconscious dimensions, and there were inclinations toward reductionism and anti- volition. Consequently, the philosophical issues of mereological fallacy, physical reductionism, and denial of free will had to been dealt with. Educationists should be aware of the results of philosophical debates regarding neuroscience. And we need to cope with the problems of neuromyths, nueromania, and neurophobia. We would better take the way for neurophilia.
인간성의 재옹호와 교육 - Raymond Tallis의 철학적 인간학을 중심으로

Present understanding of humanity is a kind of pessimism based on biological reductionism. However, an English physician and philosopher, Raymond Tallis, notwithstanding his career as neurologist, criticizes the scientistic interpretation of humanity, and then emphasizes some grounds for new humanism. His themes for new humanity consist of handkindness, existential intuition, and explicit knowledge. Educators thus could pursue the enlightenment project of human enhancement and progress based on reasonableness of men.

Recently, there have been some neurophilosophical controversies over consciousness, with the booming interest in neuroscientific studies on consciousness. This study intends to do three things. First, it tries to depict the overall efforts in the direction of neurophilosophical inquiry as a realization of Quine’s ask for a ‘naturalized epistemology.’ Second, it analyses the issues of eliminative materialism, identity theory vs functionalism debate, and ‘qualia’ problem as main neurophilosophical controversies over consciousness. And finally, as was required, it suggests a few tasks for educators to meet in regard with knowledge policies over schooling.

So far, we were considered the noise control of 4 cylinder gasoline engine from a two different standpoint. The first, we should reduce the sound pressure level of the exhaust tail pipe noise, the second, should make the timber of tail pipe noise soft when the interior occupants and somebody in exterior listen the noise. But the exhaust noise was comprised of the engine firing 2<SUP>nd</SUP> order and its harmonics, the half order which was occurred by not being the same length of the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe acoustic which was made by the pipe length and the diameter. Because of above stated reasons, the noise made a higher level, a kind of shock and harsh in the exhaust tail pipe, so we were difficult to tune the noise. Therefore, the study analyzed the cause of the exhaust tail pipe noise characteristic and understood the all noise control characteristic of exhaust component. After this, we were able to control the exhaust component to get the low noise level and soft when somebody listen the noise as a proper arrangement of the exhaust component.
