전투사례를 활용한 정신전력 강화를 위한 교수방법 연구 - 만주벌 호랑이 김좌진 장군과 청산리대첩을 중심으로-

본 연구는 백야(白冶) 김좌진(金佐鎭) 장군의 생애와 청산리대첩(靑山里大捷)의 전승 사례에서 나타난 ‘군인정신’은 무엇이며, 어떻게 발현(發顯)된 것인지를 심층 분석하여 이를 교육현장에서 구체적ㆍ실천적으로 적용할 수 있는 교수방법을 제시함으로써 장병 정신전력 강화 및 국방목표달성에 기여하기 위함이다. 연구결과 김좌진 장군의 삶의 궤적(軌跡), 즉 국내에서 민족의식을 고취하기 위해 호명학교 등을 설립하는 등의 애국개몽운동과 대한광복회에서의 활동, 이후 만주로 망명하여 적극적인 무장투쟁 활동을 전개한 것은 그의 삶 자체가 군인정신으로 충만된 것이었음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 1920년 청산리대첩이라는 위업을 달성한 것은 김좌진이라는 한 사람의 능력과 노력에 의해서 이루어진 것이 아니라, 사전에 독립군을 양성하고 무기를 입수하는 등의 철저한 준비와 한만동포들의 절대적인 지원, 그리고 지형을 이용한 김좌진 장군과 이범석 장군의 전략ㆍ전술 등이 일구어 낸 결과물이었다. 그러나 무엇보다 승전의 핵심 요인은 바로 김좌진 장군을 비롯한 북로군정서 독립군의 개개인의 마음 속에 간직한 ‘애국애족의 정신’과 군인에게 최고의 명예인 전장에서 싸우다 죽겠다는 ‘명예’, 그리고 오지의 만주벌판에서 모든 어려움과 고난을 이겨내며 오직 조국 독립을 위해 극기하면서 죽음을 두려워하지 않는 ‘용기’, 일본 정규군을 상대로 매우 열세한 전력에도 불구하고 반드시 이기고야 말겠다는 ‘필승의 신념’, 전장에서 죽기를 각오하고 끝까지 물러서지 않는 ‘임전무퇴의 기상’이 바로 청산리대첩을 가능하게 한 요인임을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 이러한 김좌진 장군과 청산리대첩의 사례를 군 장병 정신전력 강화 교육에 적용하기 위해 정신전력 교육의 특성과 전사(戰史)ㆍ전례(戰例)라는 과목의 특성, 그리고 교육대상자가 신세대 장병이라는 특성 등을 고려하여 ‘비주얼 스토리텔링(Visual-Storytelling) 및 발문ㆍ질문법(發問ㆍ質問法)의 실천적 교수방법을 적용한다면 장병들의 관심과 흥미 유발 및 이해도를 높일 뿐만 아니라, 그들의 가슴속에 표상(表象)으로 자리매김하여 유사시 그 정신이 무형전력으로 승화할 수 있을 것이다. 일찍이 단재(丹齋) 신채호(申采浩)선생께서 갈파한 "역사를 잊은 민족에게 미래는 없다.”라는 교훈을 되새기며, 앞으로 보다 다양한 전사ㆍ전례 연구를 통하여 장병 정신전력 교육에 접목시켜 군 장병 모두가 명견만리(明見萬里)의 관찰력과 판단력, 통찰력을 갖추어 궁극적으로는 적과 싸워 이길 수 있는 강한 전투원을 육성해야 한다. This study analyzes in-depth what ‘military spirit’ is and how it is expressed in the life of General Kim Jwa-jin and the tradition of ‘Great Victory of Cheongsan-ri’. The purpose of this study is to contribute to achieving defense goals and to strengthen military spiritual combat power of soldiers by suggesting specific teaching methods that can be applied practically in the field of education. As a result of the study, General Kim Jwa-jin"s track of life, namely the establishment of Homyung School to raise national consciousness in Korea, activities in the Patriots" Dream and the Korea Liberation Association, and Absolute support of Koreans in Manchuria One indicated that his life was full of military spiritual combat power. The achievement of ‘Great Victory of Cheongsan-ri’ in 1920 was not achieved by the ability and effort of a single person named Kim Jwa-jin. But rather by the strategic tactics of General Kim Jwa-jin and Lee Bum-seok using topography. However, the key factors in the great victory were as follows: ‘the spirit of patriotism’, which was kept in the minds of individual soldiers, including General Kim Jwa-jin, a "honor" to die fighting on the battlefield, the highest honor for the soldiers, a "courage" to overcome all difficulties and hardships in the remote Manchurian plains, to be self-denial for the sake of independence, and not to fear death, ‘the belief of victory’ that will surely win despite its the very poor power against Japanese regular soldiers, ‘the belief of victory’, and ‘the spirit of knowing no retreat at the battlefield’, which does not retreat to the end of the battlefield. In order to apply the case of General Kim Jwa-jin and Great Victory of Cheongsan-ri, the characteristics of education for spiritual combat power, the subjects of the history and liturgical education, and the characteristics of the new generation soldiers should be considered and apply them to the practical teaching methods of "Visual-Storytelling" and "Questioning method". In addition to increasing the interest and understandings of soldiers, the spirit can be sublimated into intangible forces in case of emergency by establishing itself as a symbol in their hearts. Recalling the lesson of Shin Chae-ho, “There is no future for a nation that has forgotten history”, the military should develop a strong combatant who can ultimately fight and defeat the enemy by combining the mental power education of soldiers with obsercation, judgemnt, and insight of ‘Myeong-Gyeon Man-ri’
