Oxidation catalyst and plasma assisted oxidation catalyst were tested about its ability to regenerate diesel particulate filter system in a heavy duty diesel engine at the engine speed of 1260rpm. The gaseous emissions and the back pressure were measured to investigate the NO/NO₂ conversion and to determine DPF regeneration in the tests. NO/NO₂ conversion with oxidation catalyst began at 220℃ and increased up to 300℃ with the maximum conversion efficiency of 60%. And by assisting the oxidation catalyst with plasma reaction, the NO/NO₂ conversion increased about 10% and resulted in the improvement of DPF regeneration speed.
